    Re: Macbook A1706 EMC3071 (2017 Touchbar)

    Resistance is ok on the diode.

    Next, power the logic board and measure the voltage to ground on the same diode pins. Post the readings.

    Too busy at the office.. vendor meetings today. If you read 0v then likely a short on the default Vbus line on the usb connector. The power supply is shutting down. Test another port on the logic board as well.

      I understand, no problem. Thank you for your time !
      So, Pin #1 : 5V, Pin #2 : 5V, Pin #3 : 4.75V.
      Is it ok ?

        Voltage is fine at the diode.

        Check the voltage to ground at the coil on the output of U6903. Measure on both sides of the coil.

        What is the measurement?

          Hello,

          If you talk about the L6900, i have 3.7V on both side. Is it correct ?

              Re: Macbook A1706 EMC3071 (2017 Touchbar)

              Hi. Thanks for asking. Actually, no. Facing a personal hell.

              Last Saturday night, a drunk driver ripped through our company building and stopped about half way in. Destroyed lots of expensive equipment, inventory, my workspace, furniture. The emergency crew killed our fire door and my office. Building damage at $250k (estimated). Clean up crew is onsite and I need to go through boxes and boxes of damaged goods to then receive some sort of compensation. Our 40 year old business is at a stand still. We now have hydro, phone and heat back while our winter starts. Glass everywhere. No ceiling. Not fun times. I do have internet access now. Will monitor this thread to avoid depression. My wife does not want to even view the building pics. This is a business I started as a teenager and we supply key clients with our custom products. Hope to pass onto our son. Have meetings tomorrow for the inspection of our SMT line to review that damage. Will update you more later.

                Wow! I'm sorry for you and your family, sincerely!
                I don't know what to say, the situation seems terrible, so I'm just going to cross my fingers for you. Maybe you have an insurance that can help you even if I don't know if it works like at home in France?
                I am totally helpless and unfortunately cannot bring you much except my total support.
                Courage to you and yours and I hope it will be able to "work out" soon enough.
                Take care of yourself !

                  WOW!!
                  Sorry to hear this as well. I'm sure lots of people on this forum will be as you have been selfless in helping complete strangers.
                  Hopefully, there were no injuries to any of your staff.
                  I hope this gets resolved and you are able to get back to some level of normal operations soon.

                    Re: Macbook A1706 EMC3071 (2017 Touchbar)

                    Thank you for your kind words. Lots of office work ahead.

                    See attached. The 3v7 on PP3v3_G3H is too high. It should be 3v3. Suspecting that the feedback resistors may be at fault.

                    Remove the resistor @ R6915 (do not lose it).

                    Then power up again and confirm the voltage is still 3v7. Then with NO power, review the feedback resistors noted in the partial schematic. These values must be the same as the official schematic to dial up the 3v3 voltage. Only after this voltage is normal, then place back R6915. Rossmann forum notes this rail should be 3v3.

                      Hello,
                      I hope you are well today despite your situation..
                      So, i remove the R6915 and i have 3.40V on L6900.
                      For the resistors, here are the measurements :
                      R6910 : 110kohm
                      R6911 : 110kohm
                      R6913: 47hohm (?!)

                      Strangely, the R6910 look like a capacitor. It's a white spare, not black as usual for resistor.
                      What do you think ?
                      Thank you

                        Attached is the layout I see in the database for this logic board.

                        Can you confirm that yours is the same?

                        Are you using fresh batteries for your meter? It is recommended so that we can rule out the tool as a fault of the values.

                          It's exactly the same as the layout. It have Resistor / Condensator / Resistor / Resistor.
                          I do a fresh mesurement :

                          R6912 : 12.2ohm
                          R6910 : 54kohm
                          R6911 : 12.95kohm
                          R6913 : 1.45kohm

                          Stranges values no ?

                            Re: Macbook A1706 EMC3071 (2017 Touchbar)

                            Yes, only some of the values match.

                            With care, flux and remove R6910 & R6911 off the board. Check their values when the parts are off the board and on your table.

                            Will assume that the values in the schematic are correct.

                            So R6910 should be 115k (1% is recommended).

                            R6911 should be 47K (1% is recommended).

                            Other 2 resistors are fine. If you do not read these values after the resistors are removed, consider to replace them and measure again.

                              I remove the resistors and out of circuit, they have goods values. If i replace them on board, the values return to my last measurements...

                                Re: Macbook A1706 EMC3071 (2017 Touchbar)

                                Ok. If the IC has been replaced, consider to replace the resistors in this leg of the circuit, they are very inexpensive.

                                From this thread, the voltage output should be 3v3 at the end of the exercise.

                                  Hello,

                                  I just make the same measurements than the thread... Results are really bad :

                                  PPDCIN_G3H_CHGR = 5 V
                                  PPVBAT_G3H_REG = ?
                                  PPBUS_G3H = 0 V
                                  PP5V_S4 = 0 Volt
                                  PP3V3_S5 = 0 Volt
                                  P3V3G3h = 4.79 V
                                  3V0_G3H = 0 V

                                  L7030 = 0.730M
                                  L8410 = 109k
                                  L7660 = 15k
                                  L7600 =33K
                                  L3500 = 16K

                                  I don't understand what happen with this board :/
