• A million thanks Guyyum786.That worked.
For newbies like me, I found this how to video that was very helpful in using the HP BCU tool hp DMI tool || easy way to update serial no || manufacturing mode off (youtube.com)
It does a walkthrough, original language is not English but provides texts in the video of the important steps so I was able to follow without understanding the language.

Also, I run into an issue on boot with a MPM error "Cirrus Discrete Amp Calibration Data" Missing or invalid....

• Thanks!
It worked. The BIOS password is removed but I have the MPM countdown. I have updated the device information through "Set Machine Unique Data" in the BIOS but still have the MPM enabled.
I'll wait to see if it goes away after the countdown reaches 1.

I will update the thread once the countdown reaches 1 or whenever, the MPM goes away.
I appreciate the help.

Cheers!...

• Thanks Gayyum786 for the quick response and the file. I followed the instructions but there was no option to reset BIOS. The first screen I saw was information stating "there was mismatch in the BIOS and it has been recovered" and the only option was to press OK.
After that the BIOS lock is still on.

Not sure if I did anything wrong.

Thanks again for the help....

• Can someone please tell me what the part # of the BIOS chip is? I need to unlock my BIOS but when I opened the laptop, I see two Winbond 25W256JVEN chips (U367, U368) and I'm confused about which one is the correct chip to read/backup. Thanks in advance....

Re: Acer Nitro 5 AN515-54-58YY

Thanks
I flashed the BIOS then the EC files.

Not laptop doesn't turn on at all. Its charges when I plug in the power adapter.
When I press the power button, nothing happens. The power LED turns on for a few seconds and turns off again.

Not sure if it's just a coincidence or BIOS related.

I flashed back the original BIOS backup file and still the same. Laptop not powering on.

Any ideas or pointer on what could be the issue?

Re: Acer Nitro 5 AN515-54-58YY

Thanks Hoaca388.

Do I flash the EC as well or just the BIOS?
If the EC file too, is the flashing process the same as the BIOS? In which order should I flash them?

Sorry for the noob question. I want to make sure I do things correctly.

Thanks, again.

Thanks!
LED_AN = 8.10V when measure at PC403.

I will try to see if I can find the chip. Since Mouser and Digikey do not stock, I'll have to get if from eBay or Aliexpress and trust that the parts are original.

Is there a way to find an alternative part?

I appreciate the help.

• Re: Dell Latitude 5285 no backlight

Thanks again Boardsurfer.
I took the measurements again and
+LED_AN = 0.35V measured at PU400 PIN 22
LED_PWN = 3.04V measured at PU400 PIN 1

Also measured voltages on Q33:
Pins 1,2,5,6 all = 8.04V
Pin 3 = 0.74V
Pin 4 = 8.06V

All measurements were taken with battery installed and power adapter connected.

Thanks, Boardsurfer for the reply.
This s very helpful. I have been watching a few youtube channels to on no LED backlight most ended up being a blown fuse.
The link you provided has some great information.

So far I'm thinking PU400 is bad. A search of digikey mouser doesn't show the part in stock and no alternative parts are provided. Digikey describes it s prototype.

My apologies to the MODs for my ignorance in attaching the schematics and boardview in this thread instead of the dedicated subforum. I will ensure not to repeat this.

Thanks again Techtiger.

Resistance to ground pin 19 JEDP1 = 0.989M Ohms.

Voltage on PD400 with power adapter: pin 1=8.82V and pin 2=8.85V

+B voltage on PR310 with power adapter = 8.85V

Thanks, Techtiger for the quick response.

+LED_AN = 0.380V with only power adapter connected (measured at PR410)

+INV_PWR_SRC = 8.84V with only power adapter connected and 8.00V with power adapter and battery connected (measured at PC400)

EN_INVPWR = 3.32V while pressing PWBTWN (measured at Q32 pin 2)...

• Re: Lenovo X1 Yoga Gen 4 Clean ME BIOS

Thanks again gayyum786.

I still the same issue.

Based on troubleshooting input form forum members, it seems I have a failed PCH, that is why flashing the BIOS did not resolve the issue.

I appreciate you taking the time to help.

Cheers!

• Re: Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yoga Gen 4 charges but does not power on

Thanks, Sephir0th for the input.

I re-measured the voltages of all pins on U6316 again after your post. I even tried using another multimeter just to confirm and all the readings are exactly as before.

I supposed this points to failed PCH, which means "unfixable" at least by me.

I'll see if I can get a replacement motherboard off eBay or Aliexpress at a reasonable price.

• Re: Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yoga Gen 4 charges but does not power on

Quick update on this project.
Had to wait a long time to receive the adapter for BIOS flashing.
Finally received and posted BIOS dump for help with working clean BIOS. Forum member qayyum786 provided a Clem ME BIOS that I flashed but that did not solve the no power issue.

I guess this is where I surrender and call it a loss.
Thanks, all for the input and direction.

Cheers!

Thanks, gayyum786 for the file.
Unfortunately, that did not resolve my no power on issue so I guess it isn't a BIOS related issue.

Cheers!...
