Re: Macbook Air 13' Mid 2013 Question Mark Folder
Can be many things. Boot from a High Sierra or later MAC OS USB installer into recovery to see whether the SSD is visible, how it is formatted etc. Could be corrupted MAC OS. If the BIOS is pre High Sierra, then it won't boot or install on APFS formated volumes. You need to format as MAC OS Extended (Journaled) then install. During the update, the BIOS will be updated automatically and APFS volumes will then boot. SSD is also converted to APFS during installation too.

by jurgenkoppenIt does boot sometimes, but only after hanging for way longer than is normal for a A1398 of this vintage to come to the logo. Half of the times I try to boot it just gives me the question mark folder! I tried the usual SMC and PRAM resets, and I ran First Aid when the machine did decide to boot, but first Aid did not repair anything on the SSD, but came back with SSD is OK. I booted of external drive, and it did boot then.I reseated the SSD, looked at the connection under the scope. Looking clean.I switched to another known good SSD blade, same issue. I tied Safe Mode, but it hangs at login screen,...

by Gigabit2I have acquired this Apple MacBook Pro 15" Retina i7 2.3Ghz 16GB Late 2013 and it is not powering on. No lights on charger and no chime.
Inspecting the unit shows liquid damage, indicators have gone red.
Can somebody help me to diagnose and repair the unit or where I should start?
Thank you all. - Loading...
