Kindly identify this bios chip, Adesto AT25QF641 SUB

I believe this bios chip is currup so I'm trying to reprogram the chip but my programmer could not auto detect the chip. I want to know what type of chip to select to write it wit my programmer.

Re: Kindly identify this bios chip

    Hi.

    1) Datasheet for this chip is attached.

    2) Datasheet notes that the device is compatible with a 3v3 power rail - so your programmer should be able to support this.

    3) Ignore the use of auto-detect since the look up table (database) is stale and appears to not support the IDs that are embedded inside this component.

The reading of the IDs is JEDEC standard so EVERY FLASH chip on the market must allow for the same commands / same timing to read out the IDs inside the flash device.

Confirm this detail that you can read out the IDs -> compare them to what is inside this datasheet. Do they match ?

If not a match then the IC is defective or not seated properly inside your programmer tool.

    4) After the above confirmation, try a more common flash family from perhaps Winbond.

Can your programmer be configured to ignore the ID ?

That is, in the end, the programmer is spitting out SPI commands which are common to 99.999% of the flash industry. The programmer tool is only required to send out simple SPI commands -> to erase -> to read / write from a PC memory space.

So it should be possible to read in the known good contents from a file into your PC -> allow for the programmer tool to erase this chip -> program the chip using standard SPI commands (using Winbond as an example) -> verify the contents.

SPI is slower than QSPI (Quad SPI) but for this case, keep it simple.

A number of years ago we tested a batch of different flash memory devices to see how fast we could program them using QSPI mode. Recall Adesto as a good brand that could operate at high data rates.

My pc updated bios through Windows Update and I was greeted with BLACK SCREEN WITH CPU FAN MAX SPEED. I don't think there is even a screen signal, because it triggers my monitor for a couple seconds and then the monitor turns off. I tried the other outputs as well.
        1. I tried clearing bios, resetting bios, removed the CMOS battery, removed m.2 ssd, wifi, and ram. Still black screen with CPU fan blasting.
        2. I tried using the Lenovo BIOS CD and BIOS USB, but neither worked. At least I couldn't get anything to work.
        3. I could only locate two chips that look like bios chips. Could someone verify this

Asus Chromebox CN62 - wrong chip put on BIOS reader
        by BMCappelletti
        Long story short:
        - dad converted Asus Chromebox CN62 into Windows compatible, with mrchromebox BIOS, years and years ago
        - gave the computer to his son a couple years later
        - son now decided to revert it to Chrome OS, to sell it as original (re-writing BIOS with the backup one created by his dad)
        - too lazy to remove the board from the case, thought a voltage regulator was the BIOS chip (you know... it has 8 legs)
(seems like the story was not that short)

He used alligator clips to read the chip. No luck reading it. Removed chip and placed on a SOC-8...

Acer e15-e5-576g-5762 bricked. Bios chip won't interface in AsProgrammer.
        by inck243
Thanks for any help. The board version is DAZAARMB6E0 REV: E. The bios chip is winbond 25Q64JVSIQ1736. W25Q64JV is not available in AsProgrammer -- only BV CV FV or FW_1.8c. The chip won't interface with asProgrammer and a CH341A. When I have this chip on the board, the laptop will not post but when I plug it in to power, the blue LED lights up, also the orange when the battery is connected. When I push the power on button, keyboard backlight turns on and the fan starts briefely then turns off. But I can't do anything to program this bios chip so I bought another one.

        The BIOS...

Elitebook 840 G5 Bios Chip Soldering Question
        by Azurain
        Hi everyone,

I have an HP Elitebook 840 G5 that I am trying to get working again. I've removed the front bios chip (the 32mb one) and have run it through HP unlocker already. I've uploaded and verified the new bin, but am now experiencing an issue that has led me to believe I've been soldering the chip back to the motherboard incorrectly.

Essentially, after re-soldering the chip back into its place and reassembling the laptop, the charging light immediately flashes orange and white and then shifts to a solid white. The capslock and numlock lights blink seven times...
