    ???

The system report is NOT showing the webcam ?

    Check the voltage @ L8504, pin # 1.

Check that no pins are bent on the connectors between the logic board & camera cable. Only inspect the camera connector pins with all power removed.

If the system report shows it then this implies the configuration channels for the webcam are present.

The configuration / detection will be over the I2C_xx lines linked to the camera connector. This is assumed to be ok since the camera has been detected.

After configuration, the data flow of the video capture will be over the MIPI_xx lines. MIPI will consist of pairs of signals for the clock & data lanes.

The camera is a single MIPI LANE device.

So there are 2 pins for the CLK (CLKN; CLKP).
Also 2 pins for the DATAP; DATAN data signal lines.

Each set is a differential pair of lines that swing at very low voltages so they can communicate at very high data rates. The interface is looking for the difference between the 'P' and 'N' lines to determine if it is a high or a low signal.

Verify that the EMI filter is not broken @ L8502 & L8503. These filter the MIPI lines.

Then there is a MIPI multiplexer @ U8502.

What is the voltage of SEP_CAM_DISABLE_DFF_L ?

anyone with same flex can confirm that its pin number on pics?

                aniway any pin will beep

                  Re: a2289 no wecam

I do not believe this will be the fault since the webcam is being detected.

If you do NOT connect this connector, does the webcam get removed from the list of hardware?

If the webcam is being found, it is being powered.

Perhaps others will share their comments.

                      Re: a2289 no wecam

Good job and thank for the update.

                      My bad is that:

                      (hindsight is 20/20)

                      1) Camera is a MIPI CSI interface

                      2) Now we know that detection of the camera is only a small portion of the interface that was known to be working with your logic board & cable.

                      3) The logic board was able to communicate / configure the CSI camera but the raw data BACK from the camera was broken - a single disconnected wire can cause the host to receive BLACK / NO VIDEO from the webcam.

                      4) The first 2 lines (pair) of the MIPI interface are bidirectional in that it is used in low speed mode (LP) to configure the MIPI device (CSI = camera in this case) while the balance of the MIPI lines are high speed and unidirectional (spits out data from the CAMERA to the HOST in this case).

For a MIPI DSI (display panel), the host spits out data to the LCD panel.

Measure the voltages on the esd diodes on the battery pack. These are the smbus lines (sda and clk).

                          Post the voltage readings.

Is the battery known to be good?

Is the battery dead or charged?

With the battery only, does the battery voltage reach the battery mosfet to run the logic board?

What is the voltage on SYS_DETECT_L ?
