    Asus GX701

Working on an Asus GX701. Owner said she regularly charged it with USB C 100W charger instead of stock power adapter. One day it stopped turning on. Charging LED comes on when plugged in. The motherboard is part number is 60NR00X0-MB1031. Stock power adapter tests OK, and DC jack is getting 19v. Examining the board, I noticed that the HR40B Intel HM370 chipset gets very hot to the touch. I'm thinking this may be a lost cause if HR40 is blown. Thoughts?

did you measure resistance on that coils near chipset? or caps on chipset?

See pic for coil resistance to ground readings. Couldn't get any read out on the circled coil marked with question.

Yep dead PCH if that coil next to it is under an ohm.

as reformatt wrote...99% dead pch...1% that some capacitor in that area is dead. If you have power supply inject 1V on that coil and see whats get got.
