    Asus TUF FX505DT FX505DD V2 M/B

    Hi,

    Just replaced a shorted IT8987E, so now I have 5V and 3V3. Does this part need reprogramming or does it get programmed from the BIOS?

      This thread may be an oldie but I am in a similar boat having replaced a shorted IT8987E on Asus FX505DT. I also replaced the battery charging chip, so I do get 5v, 3.3v and 1.8v power rails now. I was told Asus motherboards reprogram the IO chip on first bootup but you are saying it needs to be programmed. So, which is it? Can you confirm?

        In my experience it is self reprogrammed on first start from bios, but only if ITE chip is new/empty. The problem is when you buy it you can not be 100% sure if it is new/empty...and lately there are many fake/dead/programed chips selling from china...and so on.
