    Dell Inspiron 5378 Charging Issue

Working on a Dell Inspiron 5378. Initially system had a short to ground. Injected voltage and found bad cap. Short gone, system powers on, but does not detect charger properly, despite known good dc jack and charger. It's a bit different from usual power id issue-- in bios it shows "AC Adapter Unknown" if power is plugged in but it also shows battery discharging and if AC is unplugged it does not update, still shows AC adapter unknown until system is rebooted. If powered up with no AC adapter it reports that correctly.

    Photos attached.

MEC1404-Pin36 is PS_ID. Check whether you have voltage here or not?? Also resistance on this pin??

Dell Inspiron 5590 Board 18778-1 no charging, charging not possible
              by master3112
I would like to share my experience about charging issues with Dell power supplies with the tech community. I am working on a Dell Inspiron 5590, Mainboard 18778-1 with charging problems. The device can be switched on and works so far, only the message appears at startup:

Alert! The AC power adapter wattage and Type cannot be determined. The battery may not change. The System will adjust the performace to match the power available.

The power supply unit is not recognized in the Bios and the charging process is set to "idle". I use original Dell battery, type...

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
              by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell...

Dell Inspiron 3480 All in One corrupt Bios issue
              by computerbacon79
The Dell Inspiron 3480 I own (the all in one, not the laptop) is not wanting to turn on at all. It goes right to a dell logo, but it stays there forever with no other information on the screen. Holding the automatic Bios repair key combo (ctrl+esc) that should let it read a recovery file off a USB drive gets stuck on a black screen and does nothing. No amount of resetting anything so far has worked, and Dell's own support downloads have not really helped. Ive tried another BIN file I found online using my CH341A, and this got me slightly more, that time it displayed a loading bar that never moved...
