MSI gaming laptop randomly does not detect nvme (MS-16J51 board)
      by Grouickman
      Hello,

Since 5 or 6 months my old MSI laptop (based on MS-16J51 board, I don't have the machine with me atm, i'll update the exact number when I'll get home) started randomly loosing the nvme drive.

At first I thought it was a bios issue, changed the bios battery that was a bit low, but did not solve the issue.

It used to happen like once every 2 or 3 weeks, but now it became more frequent and can happen several time in the same day if you restart the computer.

It looses the nvme at power-up (will boot to bios and report no nvme drive but still...

M1 MacBook Air 820-02016 possible to swap ROMs to unlock a locked board?
      by mitchw
I have a liquid damaged 820-02016 that has a 1-2mm wide hole in the PCB caused by a burned capacitor. The PPBUS_VON is shorted. I think the board is 100% gone, I tried grinding off the burned PCB material with no avail, the board is burned almost through to the other side.

But, I can get a fully working iCloud locked mainboard for very cheap.

As far as I have seen, there are only two ROM chips on the board, the TBT ROM and main flash.

Is it possible to transfer these two ROMs from the bad board to the good locked one and "unlock" the good...

Locked Setup Fails to Unlock with Correct Password - Inspiron 11 3185
      by Modify_inc
I have a Inspiron 11 3185, and in the BIOS setup under Security it shows "Locked Setup", which limits pretty much everything in the BIOS. I'm using bios-pw.org to generate the codes for the hash, but they never work for the Locked Setup password. The codes generated for the System password and the HDD password work fine, but the code for the Locked Setup password always fails. I don't understand, if it works for the first two, why is it not working for the Locked Setup p/w? Since I can't disable it, anytime I reboot, even after a Windows update, I have to go through the hassle of generating...

Topcat's Supermicro X10DAI Build - Plus NVMe BIOS Mod Inside
      by Topcat
Yes, I know I don't post this stuff much anymore....the only reason I'm posting this one is because of a NVMe adapter incompatibility; seems rather planned by Supermicro.....or I'm atleast a bit suspicious. It's plenty new enough to have a UEFI bios but a short 'happy list' of NVMe controllers that will work with this board, as if by some 'miracle', all Intel....so lets start at the beginning; we'll get back to this later.

Of course the motherboard is as the thread title states; X10dai....but we'lre going to have some fun shoehorning this into a modern 'gamer case' that can actually...
