    With the battery no PP3V3_G3H.
This is because F7000 is removed. The dual diode @ D6905 takes the input from F7000, pad # 2 (right side in the schematic), to power the LDO regulator which creates the 3v42 rail = PP3V3_G3H.

Solder back the fuse @ F7000. Then confirm that PP3V3_G3H is back with the battery (only).

    Next,

Measure and post all voltages on mosfet Q7065 with only the battery connected.

    1) Source (1-2-3)

    2) gate (4)

    3) drain (5-6-7-8)

      Re: A1708 820-00840-A 5V 80-100mA

PP3V3_G3H is now present and stable. This are the voltages in Q7065:

      1) Source (1-2-3) :10,23V

      2) gate (4): 2,34V

      3) drain (5-6-7-8):10,23V

Do i have to solder back D6950 and chech?

This rail is not pulsing ?

Check the other rails that were pulsing ? Are they also stable ?

If the rails are stable then yes, apply D6950 back onto the board. If I followed this thread properly, the removal of D6950 caused the rails to stabilize. In this case, D6950 is defective and needs to be replaced. If you solder back the defective ESD diode then the SMBUS communication will halt and cause the observed issues. This is becoming a common fault but do confirm my understanding. This ESD device is a common part available from Arrow and other online stores.

It´s working!! I solder back D6950 and connect to the battery. It turns on normally! The only problem i have now are the two CD3215. If i connect the adapter, the amp meter cycles. When the two cd3215 arrive, I will comment on how it went. Maybe bad solder on D6950?? Thank you very much mon2!! You help me a lot!! Now i have another board like this one. I open another thread. If you want you can help me too AGAIN, THANK YOU!!

            Macbook A1708 - 820-00840 20v 50ma
            by obelix24
Hi All I've one MacBook A1708 that is taking 20v 0.05a

I've checked and there is short to ground on PPBUS_G3H but I'm not able to locate it.

I've injected voltage on F7000 (1V 3A) but it was taking only 0,2a.

I've checked also C6465 but it's ok (I've take it from board and test with multimeter) - also when it was removed short was still there.

Can you please help me what is causing the short ?
