    A1707 PP0V6_SLEEP1_BUCK0 shorted to ground

Hello, I recently acquired an A1707 MacBook Pro that is not booting at all. When the amp meter is on the charging port it doesn't even turn on the amp meter and put the charger in protection mode (I have to unplug the charger from the wall, wait 5 minutes then the charger starts working again). I solved this issue by removing 4 diodes that were each in the 4 USB C circuits for the 4 USB-C Contollers (CD3215). Now my charger is not in protection mode when I plug it in the board. In my troubleshooting of this weird issue I Removed the 4 CD3215 because I thought they were the culpit, or at least one of them. So now I am waiting my new CD3215 from China but wanted to test the rest of the board, see if there are any shorts on main Power rails, etc. And founded a short on PP0V6_SLEEP_BUCK0, I first thought since it is a low voltage line it is juste probably a low resistance to ground line but it is a dead short, 0 Ohm. I injected voltage (0,5V) And the U3900 chip is burning hot... So since I believe this is the touchbar controller and also Touch ID (correct me if I am wrong) I am not sure but is it like on T2 Mac, like the chip is compatible only with this board and any other chip will result in no touch ID?
    Thanks for any help!

MacBook Pro A1707 Motherboard Diagnostic Help – CD3215 heating and Fluctuating Rails
    by Cemal Odabasioglu
    Hello everyone,

I'm currently diagnosing a MacBook Pro A1707 motherboard that does not power on. I've gathered some data but am stuck and need expert advice.
Note that i'm a beginner in electronics and i'm trying to learn while trying to repair this macbook that my work gave me. I'm really curious and love understanding how thing works and i already learned so much.

Only one usb c port is taking 20v and have 12.5v on PPBUS_G3H. when trying other ports, 2 are not going to 20v and one is going to 20v but the CD3215 is getting really hot.

    Observations...

Acer TravelMate P214 - N19Q7 main power rail shorted to ground
    by mkdj
    Dear all,

I have taken out the motherboard of a Acer TravelMate P214. There is a short to ground on the main power rail (19V). I don't have the schematics or boardview for this board (DAZ8IMB1AA0 REVA). But I have found 4 MOSFETS close to the main power rail : 2 N-Channel and 2 P-Channel.

I have checked resistance across each of the 4 MOSFETS. I have the following readings:
    Both N-Channel Mosfets: nothing odd

    P-Channel MOSFET number 1:
    source - drain : 117 kOhm
    source - gate: 96 Ohm
    gate - drain: 117 kOhm

    P-Channel MOSFET...

Lenovo Thinkpad L480 : 3VALW rail shorted to ground, but I can't find the shorted component
    by mkdj
    Dear all,

Laptop is Lenovo Thinkpad L480 (boardview can be found in this badcaps topic). When pressing the power button the LED power light turns on, but nothing else happens.

I removed the motherboard, checked for shorts on the main inductors. I found that there is a short to ground on the +3VALW_P rail (@PL201). I soldered a wire on the PL201 inductor, and I injected up to 1.3V with my power supply. Current drawn is approximately 3.2A.

I used a small thermal camera to locate the shorted component. But nothing on the board heats significantly, except the...

EXO UX133 the KBC has pin shorted to ground
    by L.L.
Hi, on the UX133U motherboard (little info) the KBC (IT8987) has pin 59 shorted to ground, so there is a key always pressed.
Does anyone know if it can be cancelled by modifying the bios bin or reprogramming the KBC?
    Thanks.

Lenovo T460 Only Charges on One Charger
    by motormayhem
    Laptop Question
    Hello,
I'm working on a Lenovo T460 that has been having trouble charging as of late. Its worked well since I've owned it for a few years. When I went to use it the other day it was dead and wouldn't turn on (was sitting on an Anker 65W GaN charger). After some fiddling with the charger I got it to turn on and start charging, but seemed like the charger was not working as it should (took a few plug and unplug cycles to get it to start charging).

A day later it was dead again and wouldn't boot/charge no matter what I did. No lights or anything when...
