Dell Latitude E7440 3 minutes delayed boot

    Hi,

I have this Dell Latitude E7440 that starts to POST after 3 minutes of pressing the power button. Any ideas what could be the problem and its solution

    Thanks......

General advice. Disconnect the battery / drive / ram (if possible). Boot again. With these devices off, is the boot time improved ?

Any liquid damage ? Or just started to do this on its own ?

Power adapter known to be good ? Check the voltage of the adapter.

Okay...... Actually, basically everything apart from the LCD, One RAM stick, heatsink and fan has been removed.

I have tested with other RAM sticks, inter-changed RAM slot..... no luck...

It can't boot without the RAM installed so i can't test it without the RAM inserted.

No liquid damage. Just started on its own. All voltages (that I know of) are present

What is left for me to do is to clear ME Region but just want to hear from other Techs' experiences with this type of situation.

So, try to do it ME Clean. Also check the original power supply. Central ID pin.

With all ram removed, the logic board should offer a POST beep to denote that the ram is defective or missing. Just wanting to rule out that the RAM could be a factor.

Start with the power supply to be sure that it is reaching the logic board. Also a good idea to check the voltages on each coil - what are they when the board does not boot? What are the voltages after the 3 min waiting period ?

No personal experience with the bios / ME issues.

              Thanks everyone for your contribution......

I've solved it....... BIOS related issues...

I just waited for 3 minutes for the laptop to boot up, downloaded the latest BIOS update from Dell's official site and installed it..... And now, it is working properly....

              Thanks again.
