    Macbook bricked after OS uspdate

    Hello to all,

I hope someone will be able to help me regarding the problem I have.
I have Macbook Air 1466 early 2015 which I tried to update to Big Sur. Something along the way went terribly wrong and now I have a laptop that starts with fan at full speed (noisy) and no picture on the screen.
Investigating I have found that both symptoms are reported as side effects of Big Sur update. I have tried with different key combinations to reset SMC and NVRAM, but that didn't change anything. SO even if the mobo is alive, the laptop is useless.
Did anyone have similar problem? I have read that this update can even destroyed ROM memory or that IO board must be replaced.

Do you have any advice? I didn't open the laptop, but I do have little experience with various electronics repairs.

    Thank you!

You need to repair the EFI ask for a clean dump at the BIOS section.

Does this mean that EFI chip must be desoldered from the logic board?

Yes! you need to remove the EFI Chip and flash a working EFI.
