    Weird Issue Lenovo U410 DA0LZ8MB8E0 REV E.

    Dear experts ,

Any advice would be appreciated I am getting this weird behaviour on this motherboard from Lenovo laptop U410 DA0LZ8MB8E0 REV E.

Lenovo logo shows up then no image at all but board seems to keep it self on but no image.

I have tried every possible bios bin files for both main bios and EC with no luck.

When I leave it off for one day the next day it boots up I can get into bios menu but if I switch on and off a couple of times I get the same scenario Lenovo logo then nothing

I am not quite sure if VCC's voltages are ok since schematic is not very clear about this.

Is backlight on after the Logo when the screen gets blank?
The next time you get access to the Bios page, look for an option called "Fast Boot" or "Startup Logo". If there is such an option, make it disabled. Then, restart the laptop and look at the messages on the screen (if any).

      Hi Caspian, thanks for answering
Backlight stays on after logo disappears, and I will try disable fast boot and or boot logo if found when I have the chance

Confirmed it's not an HDD/ODD problem?

You can also try by removing sound/lan/card reader chips and then see if it makes any difference.

was this laptop liquid-damaged or dropped?

So probably the liquid has damaged a pin of an IC or a ball of the PCH/CPU. Then, you see such a weird behavior.

You are probably right caspian Ic's are all fine from what I could check but regarding PCH/CPU is it repairable?

Does any IC have a dark pin? If so, reflow the IC.

Did the liquid approach PCH/CPU location? If so, you can assume a PCH/CPU ball got corroded. Then, try to clean the mainboard using an ultrasonic cleaner. It may resolve the issue. If it did not, a reflowing or reballing may be required.

                          Hello friends,

I've been racking my brain over the past few months on the following issue:
I have a Lenovo Ideapad 5 15ARE05 laptop that basically works fine as long it starts up at all.

If you shut it down, often you hear the HDD still spinning and the Power LED remains on, it only shuts down if you force it (pressing the power button for like 15 seconds).
Then, if you want to Switch it on, nothing happens, only the Power LED lights on, nothing else. If you leave it, then after like 30-60mins it turns on itself.
I tried all the common alleged „fixes“...

This one's a weird one, and still unsolved despite it having gone back to Dell once.

                          Specs

i7-8750H, GTX 1060 Max Q, 500GB SSD & Seagate 7mm 1TB HDD. 17.3 IPS screen. This has the fingerprint reader in the power button.

                          Backstory

I bought this from eBay, from a wallpapering shop. £650 in 2020 which was a good price considering it's a gaming laptop. Physically it's in perfect shape, apart from the hinge mounts on the palmrest failing in the time I've had it (I have a new palmrest for it). The usual thin plastic crap modern build quality!...

                          by ugamazing
So, I have a really bizarre issue that I'm struggling to identify the cause of. Working on an 820-02020 board with some bizarre keyboard/input-source character mapping. My suspicion is a possible damaged SPI ROM (U1970), perhaps, but I'm really not sure in this case:

                          1. The issue is pretty weird, but when installing MacOS, I noticed my WiFi password did not work. I quickly realized the special characters (!@#$%^& etc) were not mapping correctly.

                          2. I noticed the keyboard layout/input-source is defaulting to JAPANESE every single time I restore the board. I am not...

Hi, I have a few of these & they came with a custom bios boot logo, no passwords etc.

2 x were brand new unused but with custom boot logo, 1 I installed Windows/ran updates then it bricked itself. 1 wouldn't get past the custom bios boot logo.

The third I loaded windows, took a backup of the bios chip, then tried to flash several different clean bios's via programmer which all caused it to not boot. I tried to reflash the original bios both using clip & desoldering but...

Lenovo P43s won't boot with internal battery connected – looking for help diagnosing battery issue
                          by code share
                          Hi everyone,

I'm having an issue with my Lenovo ThinkPad P43s. The laptop does not power on when the internal battery is connected, but it works fine on AC power alone (battery disconnected). Once the battery is reconnected, the system becomes completely unresponsive — no lights, no fan spin, nothing.

Here's what I've tried so far:
                          • Power/EC reset (held power button for 60 seconds with battery and AC disconnected)
                          • Booted successfully on AC power only with the battery disconnected
                          • Visual inspection of the battery — no swelling, burn marks, or connector damage
                          • Battery
