    Apple 820-3115 Water Damage Repair

Hi, i got an A1278 mid 2012 Macbook with Liquid damage.

The only damaged area is around the Backlight driver. One cap has blown off and burned a trace. Did somebody fixed somethling like this already? I would replace all big caps because they all corrode away or are cracked. Something i should watch out for?

I looked at the boardview and the corroded circuit seems to belong to Thunderbolt. My bigest concern is Q3880 which is the 4 pin bga flip die. I have a feeling that it is blown too. Also U5400 is missing 2 legs too. The parts are available but i dont want to waste money on this.

Usually trying to fix Thunderbolt is a nightmare, a waste of time and won't be reliable. I'd just forget about it and get the motherboard to work without Thunderbolt.
