    Non charging - Acer ES1-111

    Hello All,

First time posting here so bare with me - if I've not provided all information.

Firstly thank you for all the helpful resources on here it's help me learn a lot while I've been self teaching.

    The Issue:

The laptop works fine with no signs of liquid spillage at all. The battery how ever is detected by the computer but it does not charge.

    What I have done:

I have checked for dry joints following the schematic to the best of my abilities and retouched up some joints excluding IC chips.

    Electrical :- schematic used (quanta_zhk_r3a_20140630_schematics)
So following the schematic i have identified the OZ8691LN-B IC (PU11) as the charging IC - up to this chip voltages appear to be normal.

Here are the outputs and inputs for this IC.
    Pin voltage
    1 0.02 v iOUT
    2 18.9v iacm
    3 18.9v iacp
    4 0.0v cen - chg_cen
    5 0.0v goes to gnd
    6 18.9v vsys
    7 3.33v scl
    8 3.33v sda
    9 0.0v comp
    10 21.2v PA

    11 to 15 18.9v VAD

    16 to 20 0.4v VBATT

This 0.4 volts goes all the way to the battery connector.

The battery label asks for 12 volts for charging this is why i suspect there something wrong with this IC.

Is my assumption correct or I have i missed something due to being new to this.

    Thanks for any input.

to do: need to upload the pictures of board and put schemtic details.

Have you updated the bios to the latest version, theres an EC fix for charging. Theres also a battery rest hole on the bottom case, you`ll see the extra button on the motherboard. Had the same problem with a es1-111m

      Hi,

I've not updated the bios i'll give this try and report back. i did try the battery reset hole and that didn't work so i assumed it was something on the board.

Reset button id nothing for the battery

When i run the update tool it says "Battery is too low (0 < 15). Please charge your battery to 15%." I'm running it off mains since battery has no charge.

Seems i'm in a dilemma here.

Theres a workaround in this situation. Run the bios update exe on a different pc,the bios will not update it will give you an error message.Leave the error message on screen.Go into windows control panel and in the folder options, enable "show hidden files and folders" ,then go into C:\users\yourname\appdata\local\temp .In that folder theres a temp folder for the bios update (sort by date) ,copy that flder and get it onto the ES1-111 .Go into that folder and open the platform.ini file with notepad . The file wants editing to disable the battery check ,it just wants changing from 1 to 0 BatteryCheck=0 ,and save the changes. Run the insydeflash.exe from that folder ,it should update now without the battery check.

oh! I'll try this and report back.

So far so good. The software picked up the board and bios version.Currently rebooting.

              Plugged in and charging!

Thank you for your help! I wish i had known about this bios fix.

Just means another good day where I have learnt something new!

Currently at 0% but i'm guessing the battery has been discharged for so long it's going to require a bit longer to wake up or a replacement is needed.

              ===

Update: now at 2% voltages on the board to the battery connector are now where i expect them to be and a lot higher then 0.04 volts.

ASUS X54H laptop thinks it's always charging even with charger unplugged
                  by flat-earther
The charging indicator light on my ASUS X54H laptop is always on even when the charger is disconnected.

Windows also shows ''Plugged in'' when charger is not connected.

This problem started year ago gradually, when unplugging the charger the charging light took several seconds to disappear, then minutes, and now almost always on even when unplugged for an entire day.
Strangely, before sometimes immediately when plugging in the charger the charging light went away, and later came back with it connected.
If I let battery run out and say it has 3% Windows will...

Acer Nitro 5 AN515-45 not charging
                  by CPUFiddler
Hi there. I am trying to repair an Acer Nitro 5 AN515-45 and it's giving me some trouble. I have access to SMD rework station, variable power supply, digital oscilloscope, thermal camera, multimeter, stereo microscope.
This laptop will boot and run from the power brick and/or the internal battery, but it will not charge the battery. NirSoft BattInfo tells me the charge/discharge currents, so I'm confident in saying that it's not charging. In addition, there's no increase in voltage at the battery connector when the laptop thinks it's charging, not even a few millivolts.
                  I've downloaded...

                  by titomno2
                  Hi guys,
I currently trying to figure out why the laptop of my friend did not charge.
It is a Acer AN515-42 (Ryzen 5 2500U), I manage to make it works on AC and battery but no charging.
At first it was not working on Battery, I discovered that PQ201 was knocked off and replace it => work on battery precharged on another computer.
I also checked the small resistors between PQ312 and PQ201 and even if they are ugly values are OK.
My issue, when I plug the charger computer off, it drains 0.25A during few seconds with amber light on (charging) then amber light blinks...

                  Motherboard Model: DA0Z8EMB8C0 - Model: Z8E
Charging IC: BQ24780 which I have repalced.

                  Issue Description:
I'm experiencing an issue with the charging system on this laptop. The BQ24780 charging IC is not working as expected. The main problems are:
                  1. ACDET is missing (0V):, Reading 0V on the ACDET pin.
                  2. ACOK is not present (0V): Is missing as well.
                  3. No SMBus signals (SDA and SCL are missing): The SDA and SCL signals for SMBus communication are not present. There is no clock (SCL) or data (SDA) activity on these lines.
