    Hi
Remove biosbatterie and then press powerbutton for 60 sec. without ac adapter and Battery.
    means make a hardware reset.

Everything is ok for S5 state.
After powerbutton pressed KB926 should pull SUSP# high, meaning SUSP is going low and U1 gate will get 19V to open 3VALW to 3VS.
This mainboard has the famous MCP67 from nvidia. Maybe the ec is not getting answer from MCP and does not give command to change power state.

              Why do you think that?
What do you call short to gnd? How many ohms?

Then use lab psu to find the short, if needed on all lines.
