    Acer Aspire ES1-512 won't power from battery

    need help, got an Acer Aspire ES1-512 that won't power on from battery. the battery is fully charged. no battery leds light up.

    if i connect the ac adapter the laptop will power on without pressing the power key. it'll also charge the battery. (battery was 50% - now 100%)

    if i disconnect the ac adpater the laptop turns off then i have to switch off/on the ac adapter to power on again.

    it won't power on from ac adapter if i disconnect the internal battery.

      remove the battery and plug in the AC adapter.
      then, press the power button and measure voltage on coils.

          PL4401 - 2.72v (wether power button is pressed or not)
          PL4501 - 0v
          PL4502 - 0v
          PL4701 - 0v
          PL4801 - 0v
          PL4902 - 0v
          PL5001 - 0v

                  thanks for the help, but sadly i dont have the laptop with me. it was my cousins and he decided to sell it for spares.

                      Dear all, I am trying to troubleshoot an Acer Aspire 5 A514-55 that won't power on. I'll describe the symptoms and my findings so far, and I would like to seek guidance and suggestions on possible suspects in terms of cause/component failure. My initial thoughts are battery charger IC and/or ideal diode/MOSFET (that switches between incoming DC and battery power), but I could be totally wrong on this.
                      1) Laptop was working fine on battery, then user realised battery was running low. Plugged in AC adapter but noticed it was not charging (LED on AC adapter plug did not light). Eventually shut down

                      This was a no power initially. Thanks to your help, I discovered it was the first mosfet, so I replaced. Now, the device will power up only if the battery is NOT connected. As soon as I connect the battery, it shuts off. If I connected the battery while the device is off, it simply will not respond to the power button. I replaced the battery, and while I suppose the new battery could be faulty, I'm assuming it is not. I'm having the same behavior with the new battery. I measure .2v at the charging coil. Manually applying power to the + and - at the battery header, there is no charging happening....

                      Mark and model: ASUS X571
                      Symptoms: not turning on. There is only the LED battery indicator working. The owner of the laptop told me this problem arrived one week after having changed the battery. He then managed to power on the laptop only once, and then it never powered on again.

                      Tests already made:
                      - Battery is charging when laptop is plugged in. The LED battery indicator turns white after a couple of hours of charge, indicating that battery is fully charged. However, laptop won't turn on anyway, with or without AC plug.
