I was wondering if anybody here have any insight on reliable vendors for motherboard replacements. Fleabay "Ebay" is just absolutely horrible as most things are junk than good. Yes sometimes they're repairable but sometimes these boards are beyond economical repair. Thanks...

Buying laptop parts abroad is not reliable.
Does exist a distributor for laptop motherboards and other parts of laptops in every country?
I think it has to exist.
In addition, there has to exist a few used laptop part collectors in every country.
Otherwise, laptop repair wont be feasible where technician sometimes has to waste money/time by buying faulty parts from non-trusted foreign sellers.Last edited by caspian; 10-09-2017, 12:43 PM.

People who have experience replacing CD3217B12 chips (on macbooks), I have a few questions for you.
As far as I understand, the CD3217B12 exists in more than one type and the different types are not cross-compatible. Is that correct? How many types are there in fact that you know of and which motherboards is each type compatible with? Do they look visually the same, or is there some difference in marking?

I need to change the capacitors on my three original Xboxes.
Two of them are 1.6B revisions and have Hynix RAM, and the other one is a 1.6 with Samsung RAM.
The 1.6 has the infamous Nichicon HM capacitors around the CPU, which have all bulged and started to leak. This Xbox no longer powers on.
The 1.6B revisions have Rubycon MBZ capacitors that all look fine, but I’ll change them in due course. Both of these work fine.

I'm planning on recapping both motherboards. I actually already ordered recplament caps for them, where I will be changing out most for poly's.
Could use some double checking to see if I'm not doing something stupid.

I use to repair those things and i would find it helpful if i could know in advance what parts may i need for common repairs. -

I'm new to the forum and I'm looking for practical courses for troubleshooting pc motherboards especially laptops in Europe, if possible in France. I have been a computer network system administrator and a corrector of administration modules for automated programs under Unix. But I really miss the practical "ops" side of troubleshooting.
