Hello. Have problem with ati 3470 gpu that every ic that i have blowup only on preheating cycle around 170c. have two chips but it blowup. i reball many ati gpu, nb but this ic have some problem with me.

any suggestion on soldering this chips?

i allways use kapton tape to cover chip pill

What kind of reworkstation do you use? IR or hot air?

And that is the problem, cheap IR stations do that. Buy hot air and you will never use kapton tape or aluminium around the chips and you will never get popcorned.. Especially on ati 216-0707xxx or some nvidia G84/G86

i wrote that was during preheating cycle. do u think your hot air system dont have ir preheater?

It isn't a particular fault of this chip, it likely happened due to moisture. They're old, and people tend to keep their broken stuff in all sorts of weird places - who knows how long it sat before it was brought in for repairs.

i'll second that, you need to slow-bake the chip to get the moisture out.
there are documents on this from all the chip manufacturers.
