    MBX-216 Vaio laptop dead

    Hi all,

    i have that MBX-216 MOTHERBOARD completely dead.

    I've seen that from PU2 ic there are 5v but 3v are missing pag.23 of schematic
    On PQ8 pin 5:19v 1,2,3:0v 4:0v

    RVCC ON pin 27 U2 is 0volt. if i put an external voltage on pin 27 of U2 3volt of PQ8 are present, then i suppose RVCC ON is missing.

    Is RVCC ON generated from pin 11 of U18 ?
    I have replaced it but still 3 volt are missing.

    Any help please...

      Sony mbx are notorius for bad caps.

      Some of them with bad gpu chipset.
      Find the main coils and see witch one its shorted to ground.
      Just cook it! It's already broken.

          My bet is if you lify up pl8 right side is shorted.
          Check that first and confirm what side is shorted
          Just cook it! It's already broken.

                  they usually come in pair

                  find shorted coils or any short to ground. refer to diagram not to be connected o ground.
                  Some fets are connected to ground o discharge. So please find a reference point so we can continue .
                  Just cook it! It's already broken.

                      Hi, I disassemble my laptop to replace the speakers, to access them, you have to remove everything including the heat sink and fan, unscrew the motherboard, lift it up a bit to access the speaker wire.
                      that was not the first time I dissasemble it, i did replace the same speaker a few year ago and I repaste it last year, so I had nothing to worry about. but when I put everything back together, its completely dead.

                      After a bit of investigating, i found one pin of the status led ribbon cable that was unglued from the cable and bend touching another pin, I bend it back at his place...
