Dell Vostro A860 a Typical Problem and Challange for our tech people

    Guyz and my tech buddies
Here is my problem with dell Vostro A860 Laptop.
I have been identifying this problem from so many days. Finally got to a conclusion

Problem: It is working for a long time when it powers on and when i shut down it in the night. it is not powering on in the morning.

    Changed Chipset No use
    Changed I/O No use.

Please guide me through the process

Probably temperature related. Something doesn't like being cold. Could be darn near anything. Warm it up if it turns on try using freeze spray on components until it fails.

I once had the same problem with a Dell N series. Washed the board along with reflowing the components on it. Never had the same problem on it again.

Stupid i know, but have you checked the lid switch? It is under the left hinge and goes into the 2 pin connector next to the fan connector. Try powering it on with that connector unplugged. If it works then replace the switch. If the switch is stuck closed it will either not power on when you press the button or it will power on without video on the lcd, since it thinks the lid is closed.

This had me scratching my head for a while but i have finally got it down to the switch today and fixed the intermittent no power on condition that this laptop had.
