Dell XPS 17 L702X power issue

    Hello!

    Here I have a Dell XPS 17 L702X I purchased in November of 2011.
I have replaced several components over the years (both hard drives, keyboard, fan, touchpad/panel, battery, AC Adapter, and some ram [in order]) and all in all the system typically runs rather well, aside from the occasional overheat. Anything that goes terminally wrong with a component is usually quickly fixable... until recently.

I was watching last week's episode of Game of Thrones when I noticed the machine was running on battery. I unplugged and replugged the system, the pilot light for the AC Adapter came on for a little bit, but then stopped coming on entirely.

I ordered a DC Jack replacement online (the part that the screw goes through on the original was broken... in the new piece the part was two hairs too low and wouldn't fit in my machine until I knifed it off, not sure how much that matters, it's made of plastic. Though it should probably be screwed down regardless, but how could I?)

After waiting a week for this new part to get here, I installed the new DC jack and the system would still not recognize the presence of external power. It still works on battery, however.

So, not sure if this is exactly the right place for this issue or not, though I was referred here by the IRC channel for the /r/techsupport subreddit.

Any and all help or advice would be appreciated, and I'll try to provide more information as needed.

    Thank you so much,
    Byronius

I think you should try to get the schematic, that is the only way you can follow the DC pad.

Dell G3 17 3779 Weird power cycling and shutdown/restart issue
      by SuperJames
This one's a weird one, and still unsolved despite it having gone back to Dell once.

      Specs

i7-8750H, GTX 1060 Max Q, 500GB SSD & Seagate 7mm 1TB HDD. 17.3 IPS screen. This has the fingerprint reader in the power button.

      Backstory

I bought this from eBay, from a wallpapering shop. £650 in 2020 which was a good price considering it's a gaming laptop. Physically it's in perfect shape, apart from the hinge mounts on the palmrest failing in the time I've had it (I have a new palmrest for it). The usual thin plastic crap modern build quality!...

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
      by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell...

Dell Inspiron 3480 All in One corrupt Bios issue: reaches Dell logo and stops
      by computerbacon79
The Dell Inspiron 3480 I own (the all in one, not the laptop) is not wanting to turn on at all. It goes right to a dell logo, but it stays there forever with no other information on the screen. Holding the automatic Bios repair key combo (ctrl+esc) that should let it read a recovery file off a USB drive gets stuck on a black screen and does nothing. No amount of resetting anything so far has worked, and Dell's own support downloads have not really helped. Ive tried another BIN file I found online using my CH341A, and this got me slightly more, that time it displayed a loading bar that never moved...

Dell Latitude 3510 Overheating & Fan Control Issue – Need Help
      by Ven
Dell Latitude 3510 (Intel Core i7-10510U) CPU Overheating

      Issue Description:
      1. CPU Overheating to 100°C
        • When I start the laptop from a cold state, it takes about a minute to reach temps around 80-90-100°C, and CPU thermal throttling triggers.
        • When the CPU fan is running at full speed (by disconnecting PWM and TACH cables), CPU temperature stays around 50-60°C.
        • However, when the fan is connected normally to the motherboard, it does not kick in at high temperatures.
        • I also noticed a few times that the fan kicked in for a very short time, but it does not stay on consistently.

Dell G15 5515 RGB Keyboard Not Detected (Compatible Keyboard, Possible BIOS/EC Issue?)
      by NotEnough
      Hi everyone,

I'm working on a Dell G15 5515 (Ryzen 7 5800H, RTX 3050 Ti) and recently installed a compatible 4-zone RGB keyboard and controller (for Dell G15 5510/5511/5515 models). While the keyboard functions for typing, the RGB lighting is not detected by Alienware Command Center (AWCC), which displays “No AlienFX devices found.”

      What I've Tried So Far:
      • Reseated the cables.
      • Reinstalled AWCC and AlienFX services.
      • Attempted BIOS downgrade but no improvement.
      • Inspected ribbon cables for damage.
      • Explored the possibility of BIOS or
