Laptop lcd went white - Asus K51AC

Hi,
I received the other week an Asus K51AC. The client bought it off the internet second-hand and functioned only 3 days. Problem: turn on but nothing else. So I went ahead, opened and noticed it had a previous reflow(only). I reballed the video chip but when I turned on the laptop I got white screen on the lcd but everything was fine on the external monitor. I changed another video chip, same effect so I installed a new lcd and this time all was fine.

Can anything be done about the white screen lcd(never repaired one before)? Visually nothing seems to be broken or burned. Thing is, if I leave the new lcd, the price for repair will be to high and the client wont pay for it.

post a photo (use manage attachments) of the boards attached to the panel
(fold any plastic sheet out of the way)
someone may spot something.

I sometime had a success repairing such lcd (white display) after changing big chip (don't what is it) on tcon board. The chip which has connection to all flex lcd. I don't recommend but you can try.

I come across similar issue and found a fuse near the screen connecter open i replaced the fuse and it worked for me

The client says the lcd worked for him but after reball I only had white screen. In the end I gave him a second-hand lcd hoping I will be able to fix this one.

check the fuses F401 and F101

That's not really my strongest suit yet. I did check them with the multimeter set on beep, it beeps and currently I dont have a working laptop to put it into. Ill check back as soon as I can.

Yes as Ramee says check fuses - i would say dont trust the "beep"
A resistance test would be better and voltage each side even better but as
you cant connect it at the moment that will have to wait.
