Hello.
I have been tinkering with a Toshiba L750D laptop trying to get it to work correctly but I have run out of ideas so I was hoping that someone could give me a couple of pointers.
The laptop seems to run perfectly most of the time, it will run for hours on end with no problem what so ever, this changes however when a battery is inserted. Regardless of whether the charger is inserted or not the laptop will not power on with a battery inserted, all the happens is the power LED comes on for a second or 2 then it completely turns off again.
Now the strange part is that it will have the same problems when the battery is removed, holding the power button down for a minute and removing the CMOS battery does not clear the problem, the only time the laptop starts working again is if it's left for a long time with no battery or charger connected and then it works fine again. How long it needs to be without power I do not know as I usually just abandon it for a week or 2 at a time.
I can only assume that something inside takes a long time to discharge which isn't affected by the usual methods of "discharging" laptops (a low leakage cap perhaps?).
At one point when it wasn't working I decided to replace all the caps as I don't own an ESR meter to test each one and it started working again but I assume that the laptop completely discharged and reset in the time that it took to replace them so I guess that it isn't a cap problem.
I have replaced the battery and tested the charger with a dummy load and it checks out.
So any ideas people?
Many thanks in advance :p
