HP 11 Stream laptop DAYOHGMB6C1 REV:C doesn't show video at all!

    Hello, there!

The problem with this laptop is that it does not show video at all, even if I connect an external HDMI screen device to its port.
I got it disassembled, and first of all it does have its VDC in (19.81). I checked the 5 inductors having the charger plugged in, and the voltage readings are:

TURNED OFF (without pressing the power button)
    1: 9.07 VDC
    2 to 5: 0 VDC
TURNED ON (after pressing the power button)
    1: 9.04 VDC
    2: 1.203 VDC
    3: 0.813 VDC
    4: 3.403 VDC
    5: 5.133 VDC

I'm not quite sure if the reading of the third inductor is fine or not. Hope you guys can guide me on this. I don't know what else to check.

    Thanks in advance!
    Alex.

Refrain from making such comments for 2 reasons:

Measuring voltage on coil is not sufficient for no display issues, you need to dig a lot deeper.

      M_A_DRAMRST# present?
      Bios flashed?

Schmeatic is available in this forum-so start digging .

Sorry about that comment of mine, I felt just kinda frustrated for not having response. Won't happen again.

        I'll do that!

I don't know where is located to check. Couldn't find the schematics (maybe I need to dive deeper).

Not yet, but I'm going to; need to get the programmer first.

I've already started trying to find it when I came here. If you say it is here, then I'll have to try to find it again.

        Thanks in advance!

There's no memory modules on this model, it's soldered chips.

The soldered ram chips will also feature a reset line. The '#' suffix denotes that the signal is active LOW. This means when the line is LOW, the target device is parked in the reset state. To run normally, the same line must be released to the logic '1' or high state and is often ~3v3.

I just learned something new. Thank you, dude. I'll try to check those lines, and I'll post the measuring.

Took a screenshot from the schematic where it shows one of the memory slots plus a small rectangle with 4 pins at the bottom, which I suppose it corresponds to the soldered chips I have (4 at the front and 4 at the rear); each one of them of 8 Gb, as you can read in the picture. Also, I'd like to share a picture of the mainboard so you can help me where I should check those lines you previously said? I can notice some check points there, and also the printed numbers 1,2,3 and 7,8,9, by the chips.

                    Thanks in advance!
                    Alex.

                        Thanks for the info, dude!

I flashed the BIOS using two different .bin files a friend shared with me, but it didn't work, so I'm gonna use one from here (once I have one). I'll be posting the results here.

                        Cheers!

Board model in your case is DAY0HGMB6C1, a zero instead of letter O

If flashing the BIOS doesn't work then if you're lucky you can find a working board for cheap like this one
                          https://www.ebay.com/itm/256253333379

As some sellers want more money than the cost of the same laptop second hand in working condition

So far, I've been using various .bin files (up to 4 as of yet) to flash my BIOS, but none of them have worked! I even used one for the laptop model HP Stream 11 Pro G5 Notebook PC, since a user mentioned in another thread that worked successfully for the HP Stream 11-ah117wm. And, another problem just arrived... now the power led is not working when I plug in the charger! I checked the 19.81 VDC in the power connector of the board, and it's present.

I can't afford buying the board, which may be cheap there, but not here in Mexico, to fix the problem. Also, I'd like to, at least, find out what is bad in the laptop so I can tell to the client... or keeping trying to fix the problem.

After the BIOS flashing process, the problem got worse since now the power led is dead. Since it has two LEDs (amber and white), I tested both using a multimeter on diode function, and it only lit the amber one (the positive lead on the pin 3 and the negative on the pin 1). Did the same with the white led (the positive lead on the pin 3 and the negative on the pin 2), but it does not light up. In both cases, the voltage measured was 1.8 vdc. However, if I check the diodes independently, both have .490 vdc. Even though, when I plug in the charger it does not show the white led. Strange. I wonder how that LED went bad after flashing the BIOS.

Haven't found schematics/boardview for your exact board, here's a similar one you can use for reference

                                  https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...wm-da0y0hmb6f0
It's for the previous generation of HP stream 11, CPU and RAM are different, yours has N4000 CPU and DDR4 RAM, the one I linked has N30xx CPU and DDR3L RAM

The I/O board with audio and USB port is the same though

Checking the mainboard more closely, I could detect a few capacitors shorted. I don't have experience with fixing computers on a component level, so I wonder how should I proceed in order to find the responsible for the short.

The circled caps are not likely shorted . They are part of cpu vcore circuit and low resistance to gnd is expected there.

Without boardview, its not possible to dig deeper-so yeh tough to crack it.

                                          Hello, there!

I just flashed my mobo using two BIOS files a friend shared with me, but none of them worked. If anyone could share a working BIOS for my laptop, I'd greatly appreciate it. Here's my BIOS backup in the attachments.

                                          Thanks in advance!...
