I installed a new keyboard and it can smc reset and the power button works. but nothing apart. no boot picker e.g. I am wondering how this can be explained if the alt key (smc reset) is working. I am aware that on the board side shift, ctrl, alt and pwr are separately wired but the board, trackpad/cable are good. The keyboard was tested working prior installing and as another keyboard now tested on the same board improvised works as well the only idea I have is that I damaged the keyboard flex cable while installing it into the case. But why hell smc reset and power are working then ? Anyone has an explanation ? best regards

So, I have a really bizarre issue that I'm struggling to identify the cause of. Working on an 820-02020 board with some bizarre keyboard/input-source character mapping. My suspicion is a possible damaged SPI ROM (U1970), perhaps, but I'm really not sure in this case:
1. The issue is pretty weird, but when installing MacOS, I noticed my WiFi password did not work. I quickly realized the special characters (!@#$%^& etc) were not mapping correctly.
2. I noticed the keyboard layout/input-source is defaulting to JAPANESE every single time I restore the board. I am not... -
Hi! I have this 2015 A1398 with 820-00426 board that's driving me crazy. It originally came because of charging problems (MagSafe Board roasted, also MagSafe cable, etc. After disassembly, clean and assembly, my assistant (literally) broke FL803 and other componentes. Obviously, no screen or backlight. After replacing them, and also the LVDS connector, and LVDS flex on the screen, the board started fine, charges, chimes, shows Apple Logo, but surprise: no more trackpad or keyboard.
Important notes:
-Click works, so, trackpad is alive.

my system is p5ql pro asus mobo , logitech keyboard ps2 keyboard (more than 10 years) .
my place use to get some power drip for a second ,at that time , pc shuts and restarts itself , it dint cause any problem till now , once or twice i noticed , i am not sure if it was exactly at power drip time or normal time - both keyboard and ethernet lan stopped working , the keyboard would lose power i mean led lights-num lock caps lock would not stay on , no light at etherbet cable too..then i would restart the pc - then its all good .
