Hello all, I have been researching an issue on my son's laptop. The laptop powers on, but has no video. The video briefly worked with the USB-C port, but has stopped displaying video all together. So, no HDMI, screen, or USB-C. It is starting up, I can see the backlight but no display. You can hear the annoying startup sound when it turns on. My son told me that it completed an update and then the issues began.

After my research I have found that a lot of owners of these laptops have had issues after system updates. I have downloaded the boardview file and schematic. I can see that the board has 2 BIOS chips, and I am almost certain that the main BIOS chip is U2802 (MX25L12873FM2I-10G). There is another chip, U7802 (W25Q80EWSNIG-ND), but it is only an 8Mbit chip, which is too small to hold the main BIOS file from what I have learned.

I have purchased a CH341A programmer and I will need a BIOS, so I can reprogram the chip. In my research I have also read that you cannot just upload a BIOS file that has been downloaded from the ASUS website. Is that correct? I want to do this correctly, so I will appreciate everyone's guidance before attempting to reflash the BIOS chip.

I am new to this, so if my assumptions or understanding are incorrect, please feel free to correct me. I am here to learn from this experience and hopefully continue my learning experience.

Yes, U2802 is main bios chip and the other chip(1MB) is perhaps a thunderbolt firmware chip.

You can make a backup of your main bios and then download the asus update bios file for your specific serial number.
The update file may be a full bios or may be only bios region. You need to make the update file same size as your backup.
Moreover, you need to copy your dmi info like serial number etc+win key from old bios to new bios.

If you're capable to do all this go ahead, else post your bios backup in the dedicated "BIos section" and rquest a new bios.
