Acer Nitro 5 met my ebike charger...

    Acer Nitro 5 AN515-5779TD
    Board GH51G LA-L181P Rev: 1B

Well I was rushing to finish homework and just plugged my 54.6v 3 amp DC ebike charger into it. So thats just miserable. I just spent 2 days troubleshooting a parasitic drain on my A6 that killed my alternator. This literally happened right after I got that all diagnosed and fixed.

So visually it looks to be localized to the TI BQ24781 charge controller. Pins 2, and 27 look burnt aswell as the top of it got so hot as to melt the plastic it was touching even after I realized what was going on and disconnected it within a few seconds. Positive pin to ground is 3.94Kohms, nothing else looks burnt every channel looks good. I'm going to drive around all day and look for another BQ chip because literally every class I have I need this thing for and all my school stuff is on it. Is the BQ chip the first line of defence? Is there any surface mount fuses I should check and swap out? I've got some electronic experience and I'm going to school for engineering but whats the systematic protocol for troubleshooting any and every component that may or may not have gotten taken out with the charge controller? I'll update later today after I check around town at all the shops.
    thanks guys

Big mistake you made best before other parts isgiving hd picture of board with resistance to ground from main powerrail and coils . Because i think this laptop did not survive this.

I think every coil I checked has similar resistance to the onces near it. Can anyone use their stylus on their phone and draw arrows at the coils and mosfets that work with that charge controller that I should test and give me a starting point? Im looking for another BQ chip right now in my city to see if I can find one

              Hello,

you can Check all this coil résistance to ground and write directly on your photo.
We will see if chipset, cpu, SIO, Gpu is burn too.
In that case you may just back up your data and forget it.

But even if nothing else burnt, your say your bq is litteraly burn, i think it Will be a really tricky Repair, you pcb might be damaged too.
Chip may be merged With the first layer Of the pcb… Good luck With that !

Okay, Ill take a really high megapixel picture of my board and go through each coil and write it all out on on the picture. I thought a remember one pretty low but nothing was a dead shot but I'll double check and write it all out for you guys.

Pumped 54.6V and still expect it to survive. very likely the mb will go to trash bin but first lets see the resistance to GND on all coils.
