Dell Lattitude 7424 Broken USB-C Port

    Hello!
I run a dell rugged extreme as my main computer, and have linux installed. All is well! However, after plugging in a friends power adapter to test it (it turned out to be broken), my USB-C port has stopped working. This isn't the end of the world, since I can still charge with a good old-fashoned 19V barrel power, but I'd like to fix it.

The port shows up to the operating system, but does not provide power to devices plugged into it, nor can it receive power. I have tried cleaning it.

I strongly suspect that the physical port itself is damaged, and would like to replace it. I'm comfortable (ish) with taking things apart and soldering them, but I would like to have the right part before I get started. I've found a few posts on here about this laptop:

However, there are two problems with the boardview posted. First, while I was able to hunt down a viewer capable of opening the file (Allegro Viewer 16.6), I can't easily figure out how to show the details of components. Second, and more importantly, the board linked in the above posts doesn't actually seem to be the mainboard of a lattitude 7424: if you look at the images in the service manual, you'll see it looks quite different.

TLDR: What part number should I buy to replace the physical USB-C connector on a Dell 7424?

    Thank you!

Bump! Open to any ideas on how to ID the port, even.

Do you have clear pics of the original connector? I think Alex at Northridge repair sells them but you should be able to find them on Aliexpress with some hunting.

Without fully removing the motherboard (which i'd like to avoid until its time to repair, as the laptop still works and motherboard removal also requires heat sink removal), the best I can do is picture of the shield that goes over the connector. Obviously, it's a little bit tricky to spot the pinout from this position. I've attached pictures from Dell's service manual, which shows the part zoomed-in and with the shield, as well as cropped from an ebay-listing, which shows it blurry but without the shield.

I went looking on Northridge Repairs website, but found nothing that looked quite right. I'll reach out to them with the "contact us" button.

Is this top shield on the USB C connector removable for your live unit? That is, to allow you to take closer and clean pics of the USB C connector and mounting tabs. Have not seen a connector with the side wings like yours but we should be able to find a proper replacement for the pins. Assuming for now, that the USB connector pins are through hole type.

Neither of those look quite right; but I realized that the EBay motherboard was actually fairly cheap (which makes sense, since its somewhat defective); so I just went ahead and ordered it. I'll keep this post updated with any more details I get, but I think this is the easiest way to replace the port; and I'll have spare parts for if another component goes bad.
