Hi Everyone I have a 3 Hp Zbook 15 g5 with motherboard DA0XW2MBAG0 REV-G, the problem at first was because the audio driver was not installed in the bios, the audio was working but in Windows it was not installed, after many attempts to fix it, I thought it was a bios problem because the IC was made elsewhere. I try to program another bin, the laptop does not turn on, it just blinks orange in charging port. I try to write backup, but again the laptop blinks orange. The welding is fine because I have tried many times, I have tried with another chip but no solution. I check its ic has 3.3 v. Please help me

Hello,
if you somehow manage to go back to the starting point / restore original bios and make it work as it worked before, on HP Zbook G5 sound card in windows actually doesn't work if you disable from bios some intel features - I believe it was IME - intel management engine but could be something similar. I wasted a day trying to fix audio then a simple bios option flip fixed it.
Btw, windowsupdate just pulled bios 1.29.1.0 and bricked my zbook, I am writing this from my old laptop
Please make sure flashing firmwares is dissalowed in bios to keep your laptop alive.

Igor

Hi arber1232,
For me it was somewhere in bios that I disabled ability of OS to access ME (management engine). Turned out that audio driver needs ME.
My laptop is not with me so I cannot provide an exact option to enabke/disable or a screenshot.
Try to find it or wait till I get my laptop back please.
Regards,
Igor

Hello,
update from my side, I received a replacement laptop as BIOS issue was not possible to be fixed by flashing.
There are indeed options in bios to control Intel ME but in this replacement options look different and I don't see the options I originally found to be affecting audio on windows so I cannot make a screenshot.
I did not dare to provision ME as it requires me to change the default 'admin' password and I am afraid I might in the future forget to what I changed it and lock myself out of the bios/ME.
For sure, there was an option which sounded like a 'intel AMT or ME interface towards OS' and when that was disabled, audio did not work at all.
Hope you solve your issue. I will mind my own business of trying not to brick this one.
Thank you,
Igor
