I've been wondering for a few days now. Where is the account information stored on a MacBook with an M processor?! Previously, this information was written to the T1, then to the T2. Serial numbers in the EFI chip. I'd like to know how this is implemented on M processors. Is the account on the SSD or on the chips that are on the processor itself?!

I have a 2018 MacBook Pro (with Sequoia OS) that I've been using for years with no problem. I recently received an M2 MacBook Pro so I'm mostly using it and not the 2018 one, but since a friend of mine needs a computer, I thought I could restore my 2018 and give it brand-new-like to my friend.
I tried using the built-in tool to restore the MacBook (Settings > General > Transfer or restore > Delete) but it got stuck when trying to remove the Find Device configuration (it asked me for the password for my old Apple ID -now I use the same account but...06-27-2025, 08:54 AM -

I have a 2020 Macbook Pro A2289 and after many attempts managed to get it into DFU mode, using my older 2017 A1706 Macbook Pro (Running Ventura 13.7.8). However, when attempting 'Restore', it fails at step 4 of 4, showing the following error:
- "The operation couldn’t be completed. (AMRestoreErrorDomain error -1 - Failed to handle message type StatusMsg (Generic error)) [AMRestoreErrorDomain – 0xA (10)]
- "The system cannot be restored on this device. Failed to create new state machine for restore [com.apple.MobileDevice.MobileRestore - 0xFB1 (4017)]
