Hello, I removed the graphics card from my laptop and I want to heat it in the oven. What I want to ask is, is it okay to heat the card without removing the metal mounting frame on it?
As you can see in the photo, there is a plastic (black) gasket between the metal frame and the card. It sticks the frame tightly to the card.
I previously removed the metal frame while heating it, but it is quite difficult to separate it from the surface it is attached to. If there is no problem, I do not want to remove it.
What worries me right now is the possibility that the gasket and possibly thermal pad (gray) between the metal and the card will melt while heating or maybe the frame will cause extra heat transfer to the card. But I suppose the second one is a weak possibility.
Does anyone have experience with applying heat to the card without removing these metal frames? Actually, you know, a similar frame can also be around the CPU.
