    Hp Pavilion Dv6 display fail

    Hi
Hp pavilion Dv6 has neither internal nor external display.

Fan is running, hard drive spinning.

    Steps taken :
Tried with only mobo and new ram to no avail.

Does any member know whether DV6 is prone to graphic problem or not ?

Any suggestion as where to dig further is welcome.
    Platform : wistron_berry_dg15_intel_discrete_uma

    Thank you

Please tell us exactly which board it is, as you can see, on this platform there is integrated and dedicated graphics.

In any case, try programming BIOS first of all (and EC BIOS too if it's separated), and then try another processor. If it still doesn't work, then get to more serious things:

If it's the discrete, reball the GPU. If it's the integrated, reball the NB.

    A working TV? How boring!

Hi Kamel: check your Mem Ram!slot by slot , i had a DV5 here the other day and it had the same symptoms and i had a hard time to figure out the issue, i just took out 1 slot and swapped and come to the conclusion one of the slots was bad.

would give it a reflow on the NB or GPU as Th3_uN1Qu3 suggested it could be the problem.

if the reflow helps, reball should fix it.

Try turning it on and see if the NB or GPU heat up at all if they dont they could be the cause.

          i think,
im a noob at this soo i could be wrong.

          here is a reflow video
          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEV43byTP9I

Best way to do this would be buying K type thermocouple from ebay along with a digital temp sensor

and warming up your mobo with the TC attached next to the GPU / NB
put kapton tape or aluminium tape around the components around the GPU/NB
So the heat is focused on the part desired.

and warm up the whole board from underneath with a griddle (or preheater t8280) to about 150 C, then you could start applying top heat using , either a hot air station or a ghetto way with a hairdryer or heat gun. the ghetto method could ruin components due to no heat adjustment. anyway.

you should then heat it up to 170 then 190 then 200 , or whatever just ramp it up and not shoot it up fast. give time for components to evenly heat up.

          u want about 225 C for a bout 60 seconds.

          AGAIN IM A NOOB.

          hope it helps

            DV5 NO DISPLAY

REBALLED GPU, CHANGED RAM, CHANGED CPU, REPROGRAMMED BIOS BUT FAILS.
CAPS LOCK LIGHT IS BLINKING !
ANY IDEA WHAT THE PROBLEM MAY BE?

@pravin6p>> Next time make your own trade.

If the fan spin in full speed, reflow the cpu socket.

                Y're quite right, I correct : Platform is rather : DAOQT8MB6GO REV: G.
Got confused as I made another post regarding Dell inspiron N5010 erratic shut down, which platform is Wistron.... .

                  It's obviously done.
The first steps I always take, when display fail :
I check display on external monitor; if no display, I reseat each ram and try, then swap them and try again, then put only one at a time in every slot and see. If no display, I use a spare known working ram and try.

I forget to mention that I already reflowed GPU and lap came to life for about one week and then display failed again.

Today I reflowed NB together with GPU and display came. I made fan always spinning. Will see whether it'll be a regular or momentary fix.
