HP dv7 - Plugged In, Not Charging

    Hey everyone,

I just got a HP dv7-1253ca that reads "plugged in, not charging" with the battery. My first thought was "battery is shot" but I'm beginning to second guess myself. My reasoning being:
    a) the battery has zero charge, it won't even stay on for 1 second.
    b) the battery charging light stays on then blinks 3 times then goes solid again.
    c) the actual ON light to the left of the battery charging indicator is either not on at all or very dim with or without the battery in.

I should mention everything on the computer appears to work fine otherwise. Maybe I'm over-thinking it and it's just a shot battery + dim power light but I figured I'd post here to see if anyone ran into something similar before I order a new one.

    Thanks in advance.

Generally, in this case I advice customer to get a new battery.

The general idea is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stu58WAbA0Y

Finding out what the 3-blinking error code means may help you before you get more in-depth.

What is hp's product number of the motherboard (Usually a sticker on memory slot) or/and any printings on the board i.e. LA-4082?
What are the readings (voltages) on battery port pins of board (battery plugged and unplugged)?

i have had a hp with similar sinthoms like you, and i guess it was a battery problem. i think with new battery all will be ok again.

led blinking on that hp too, saying it was too low, and in windows it say 0% charging but never pass the 0%

Boot up leave charger plugged in pull out battery slot it back in do that for 4 or 5 times
see if you can wake up the battery

you can read battery capacity with older version of hwmonitor...thats haow you can be sure if it`s shot...check out id pin of charger tip, because when it`s not connected to motherboard properly it won`t charge some of the hp laptops...

If everything else is working then I would suspect the battery. If you know some one that has the same battery you could try their battery otherwise you should be able to find a new battery for $30. It just need to be comparable with the very close dimensions. I would observe the weight of the battery and try to get the same weight.

                        Which drivers did you uninstall?
So just go to the HP site, to the support tab, put in your model number, go to downloads, and reinstall the drivers. Or if you have a disk with the drivers on it load them in the CD player.
