Datasheet for the same transistor @ PQB28. Note the internal circuit and pin numbers - not matching what is showing in the schematic.

      Hi Thanks,

As requested, I touched up all 128pins of SIO chip. Then use continuity to ensure no pins were touching.

Voltage to ground of Transistor PQB28 is as follows: Base 0.006v, Emitter 10.45v, Collector 10.37v
Voltage to ground of Transistor PQB29 is as follows: Base 10.36v, Emitter 0.000v, Collector 0.000v

Followed the orientation of the Transistors in the supplied datasheet.

Measure the voltage again on each pin on PDB01 dual diode. Based on the PQB28 transistor voltage measurements, you should have the same battery voltage on the dual diode to power the charger IC.

          Voltage to ground of Diode PDB01: Pin1= 0.001, Pin2= 0.010 and Pin3= 0.011
          With Battery only plugged in.

Ok. Then there must be a trace break from the transistor and this dual diode. Review the schematic to note which pin will have the battery power to the diode connection. It is important to select the right pin on the diode.

Connect the power adapter to confirm the adapter pin on the dual diode. The other input pin is the battery feed. Connect a wire from the collector pin on the transistor to the diode. Then test again.

With reference to post #41, I mixed up the base and collector readings.
Corrected readings are: Base (bottom left)=10.36v, Emitter (bottom right)=10.44v and Collector (top pin)=0.027v

Post a revised list of the measurements for PQB29.

Use the PIN numbers from the datasheet.

Solder a piece of wire and connect one end to Base (bottom left) on PQB28.

Solder the other side of the same wire to Ground.

After you do this, do you see the battery voltage on the collector pin? What is the voltage? If you see the battery voltage on the collector pin, then the charger IC should be powered. Confirm it.

                      Hi Thanks,

                      Voltage to ground measurements for PQB29: Pin1 (base)= 0.000v, Pin2 (emitter)=0.000v, Pin3 (collector)=9.60v
                      Battery voltage dipped.

Ground the pin 3 on PQB29 = base for PQB28. This action should allow for the battery voltage to travel onto the collector of PQB28. Confirm it.

Wire soldered to Base (bottom left) on PQB28 and other to ground.
Voltage on Battery feed pin of PDB01 Diode (bottom right) is 9.80v

Does this allow you to power the laptop now using only the battery? This voltage on the collector should travel to the PDB01 dual diode and power the charger IC.

On pressing power button, the power led lights up and the fan spins for a short while then laptop shuts off.

With only the battery connected, measure the voltage to ground on each pin of PQB01 dual diode. We wish to be sure that diode is not leaking.

Voltages on PDBO1 reads 0v on all pins.....also noticed pins 8, 9 and 10 of battery connector are reading 0.000v

Disconnect the base to ground wire and see if the battery voltage returns.

                                          Hi,
I plugged in AC adapter without battery and turn on laptop.
I then turn off and removed adapter plug.
Plugged in back battery and the voltage came back on battery connector as well as on PQB28
