HP ELITEBOOK 2540 SHORTED ON +5VLP LINE I FOUND PU303 APL5317 IS THE CAUSE
I DON'T HAVE THE REPLACEMENT OF THIS IC
IS THERE ANY EQUIVALENT IC ?

Post a clear pic of the original part on the board. We need the full part number to determine if this is a fixed or adjustable ldo. Yes the part can be replaced with others but need to confirm a few details. Also the replacement part should be ceramic cap friendly.

according to the datasheet is Adjustable Output Voltage Mode .

So this is an adjustable SOT23-5 positive regulator.

It is important to review the Vout formula on page # 9.

It is:



To replace this part with another - the regulator must be:

1) SOT23-5 ; very easy to source
2) Same footprint ; should be easy as well
3) 300mA or higher ; common
4) positive LDO ; common
5) The formula is the same as above ; be careful here since many LDOs use 0.6 as the multiplier (not 0.8). If using a 0.6 volt LDO for the multiplier, the resistor values will have to be changed so that in the end, the SAME Vout is created.
