HP G62-A30 Laptop - Burnt power IC

Good day,

Hope all is well in the world of caps.

I hope that this post is relevant, and that somebody might assist me in my endeavor to repair a laptop I have for my better half.

I was gifted with a HP 630 laptop, with a Core i3 CPU, 4gb of RAM and 500gb HDD due to the fact that it was not charging. After I replaced the charger I found that it was working quite well on battery, but could not charge or run from the charger.

Upon investigation I found the following bummer:

Thus, I was wondering I any of you perhaps know what this is or where I can start looking for a replacement..

I really dont want to throw it away due to this.

It's a Maxim 8731AE / MAX8731A

I think Ebay would be your best bet. Might be hard to replace due to the package though, but not impossible.
