    Who Sells New Laptop GPU Replacements?

    I am unable to find a source for new replacement GPU and CPU for laptops that fail. Some people simply can not afford a new laptop in todays economy.
    I am getting the equipment to replace and reball the chips but where can they be purchased at a reasonable cost?

    Just curious, which chipsets exactly are you replacing? I've noticed a propensity among ATI/AMD chipsets to require a reflow. I wonder why this is the case especially when you consider that Intel chipsets almost never need reflowing (I have only ever seen a single case of a reflow of an Intel chipset, and that was in an old Acer netbook).

    There are two things that are actually being reflowed when reflowing a BGA IC. First is the actual die to the leads. Then it's the IC leads to the PCB. With nVidia, I imagine many reflows are fixing both problems, since nVidia's chipsets had varying flaws which would case the die to seperate from the leads, but this also had the cascading effect of causing the leads to seperate from the PCB, and the advent of RoHS solder didn't help all. With this in mind, WHAT exactly is causing ATI/AMD chipsets to continue to fail today (albeit not on the same scale as nVidia chips but still significantly nontheless)?

    Who knows, maybe AMD chipsets also have intentional (And nVidia's faulty chipsets were intentional once you consider that they were well aware of the design flaws yet continued shipping product) design flaws to encourage planned obsolescence.

      Well alot of times the laptop M.B. GPU fails and people end up buying a new laptop. I will have a home made preheat unit scaled to industry standard and hopefully a Hakko
      FR-803B-11 that can also do Reflow and Reball. I can learn on old computer cards and bad TV boards that need repairing. If I can fix them great, if not i did not break anything.
      My old Dell XPS 1730 Nvidia 7950 cards nees fixing too! Was a great gaming laptop untill the video card died. 1900x1200 active TFT 17" screen was nice! GPU and CPU fail the most. If I could get a source at good prices it might be worthwile.
