Got an L300 here, board level repair performed by myself not long ago (the usual NEC/Tokin replacement, shouldn't be related in any way). Has been working fine for about a month.
Basically, when powering up with a RAM stick in the lower slot, everything works perfectly.
But when powering up with a RAM stick in the upper slot, the power LED blinks 6 times: orange, orange, green, orange, orange, green. All flashes are of equal length. The POST screen shows for a split second. After this, the laptop powers off again.
Happens regardless of AC or battery power.
Any ideas what may be causing this? Shorted ceramic cap on that RAM slot perhaps?
Cheers
EDIT: Without CPU it powers on and then just sits there without flashing lights. Not too sure what that means.
EDIT2: Found some tiny bits of solder shorting a few ceramic caps behind the southbridge. I've removed them but still the problem remains - maybe they damaged the slot. Guess I'll just have to be more careful with my soldering in the future.
