Dell Inspiron: M5030 No Backlight LED

Hi all.

Im repairing this dell m5030 but it has no backlight on the lcd. Things to note:

• Screen is working
• Cable is ok
• Tried other working led screen and same issue.

Anyone has experienced this issue before? Any links to schematic manual?

how do you know the cable is ok? did you take a MM and check every lane? Other than that i'm thinking motherboard

Tried another working cable and same issue. So MM is the culprit.

Motherboard's LCD led controller is toasted, see if you get any voltage on the pins.

I'll answer this thread: I have used a little of MEK and wiped around the gpu and all is well. I now have the backlight once again.

so your problem gpu issue? my Toshiba L500 gpu are socketed to PCIE, are yours too? any idea how to clean them? I got a can of CRC Co Contact Cleaner.

i rly don`t understand what that MEK means. any one helps me with that translate?
got one that its doing the same.
gpu related? i need to reflow?
or missing Volt.

I'm working on a Dell M5030 LED with no Backlight for a friend,shined a small flashlight on the screen and could see the images so I removed front plastic bezel around the screen, then removed the two top screws and 4 side screws.

unplugged webcam connector and was able to access the circuit board on the back of the screen, applied some light heat from a heat gun directly to the circuit board only and then some cold spray and isolated it down to a smaller area on the board,

after reaching just the right temperature I had backlight again. upon close inspection of the circuit board using a magnifying glass I noticed some poor looking solder connections on what looked like 3 resistors that were all 3 in a row.

after I re-soldered the connections on them it seems to be working good now, left on for several hours with no failure. left off for 2 hours then turned back on and still had backlight, not sure if it's fixed yet, will leave off overnight and check again in the morning.
