Need help with Toshiba C650-034 (PSC12C-03403L) dead!!!

Hey boys....my situation is classic. I was on the phone to a Toshiba tech to kill the power on password that my brilliant son created after smoking pot with his friends. He couldn't remember it right after doing it. So...it was 2 days past warranty. Toshiba "tech" walked me thru shorting several pads...until...he realized he was looking at the wrong motherboard!!! He then apologized and said he wasn't gonna help any further. I tried to talk him into replacing my board. He quickly ended the call. What a jerk!!!

So I have no power, no leds, no action. Where should I start, other than following the dc in? Any and all help much appreciated.

I think you need a qualified tech to do that for you.

Funny story it made me laugh. You most likely fried the KB and bios chips.

        Bluestone,

I've been a computer tech for over 10 years. I'm also a professional guitarist and dabble in electronics. I have always repaired my own gear as well as building guitar effects and other electronics projects. My computer tech courses only covered basic electronics. I do have tons of experience and success in reviving dead pc motherboards, hot-swapping and re-flashing bios chips and have been certified by different oems as an authorized repair tech. Now when it comes to laptops, I've repaired hundreds of them, but laptop motherboards (and their charging circuits) are a whole different breed and I want some advice/knowledge from fellow techs with experience on the component side of things. So consider me as a knowledge seeker...

Thank you to anyone who doesn't work tech support for Toshiba Canada.

Hi teletwanger, have you got the schematic for this laptop motherboard?

No I don't have a schematic yet, but am actively searching for it. I will post it here when I find a copy.
