    Dell latitude no power on

    Hi,

forum has already identified a cap in a display power board, thanks, hoping some luck with this.

Have a dell latitude d400 (second hand), been using ok for 12 months. a week ago, it was switched on all ok,4 hours later, came back to it and it had died. state of play is....

as soon as i try to turn the laptop on, the LED on the power block, goes off. have to remove the ac adaptor from the mains, to get the power block LED to go on again. the moment i try to switch the laptop on, the power block led goes off again

when attempting switching the laptop on, the laptop power button light barely flicks on, and straight off again.

ive tried switching on with no battery and no hard disk installed, also reseated both so-dimm modules. i'm guessing either the display, or the laptop motherboard itself ?

Re: Dell latitude no power on

From what you describe it sounds like you have something shorted on the motherboard or your power supply is bad. Try another known good adapter and if it has the same symptoms then you know the problem is with the laptop. If the computer works then you just have to buy an adapter.

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
      by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

Modification to a ZD-987 desoldering/soldering station using a external switching power supply
      by sam_sam_sam
I have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails

I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time...

Dell Latitude E5570 - No display, turns off after a minute of pressing the power button.
      by hoarderteks_kyriakos
      Hello.

Yesterday my mother encountered a problem with her laptop, which led to it not turning on and expressing the behaviour mentioned in the title (you press the power button and then it turns off after a minute)

      Here is what happened:
At one point i was fixing a setting on the laptop to make the laptop properly recognize the NVMe drive i put in months ago. All worked until all of a sudden the computer blue screened. The screen said it would reboot, but it never did. So she held down the power button, powering it off. Pressing it again, the screen briefly turned...

Dell Latitude 5591 not power on
      by dlonely94
      Hi everyone!
I have a Dell Latitude 5591. It has a strange problem:

First, when the WLAN card is plug in, it will not power on when press power button, even all voltage is up (19v, 3v, 5v, 3valw, 5valw)

When I remove the WLAN card, it will start nomarlly. Then I power off and re-insert the WLAN card, it still work normally.

But, if I left it for 3 or 4 days without the battery and adapter plugged in, it will not power on, and I have to repeat the above sequence.

Sometime, when it not power on, I just unplugged the battery and adapter, wait...
