    dell inspiron n4030 inspiron n5010

My dell Inspiron N4030 turns off automatically without any warning message and without system shut-down message after some random amount of time. Whenever I turn on the laptop it will work about 10 minutes and then turns off "boom!" and as I restart will work for 7-8 minutes and again turns off. If I keep on restarting it again and again without giving it rest then the working time keeps on decreasing...

Have you tried monitoring the CPU temperature to see if it is overheating? Sounds like a heat issue to me. Does the fan sound like it is on max all the time?

+1 to this theory as well. Seen it happen plenty, usually a nice wad of lint in the cooling radiator/fan assembly.

I found ASUS surprisingly good for fan access on a few of their laptops - but yes, for the most part, expect a full strip down

Why do you want to flash the BIOS?

Have you checked for overheating CPU?

Or do you think that it's the BIOS that is causing the laptop to shut down?

Re: dell inspiron n4030 inspiron n5010

taking me 2 month to found a solution for this overheating for unknow reason, cpu temperature go above 80-100c in minute. somehow i suspect is the heat sink can not transfer heat. if you have overheating problem, guess your screen also got color bar too, sign of GPU overheating. this fews items all you needs, cpu thermal paste for CPU,and cut a piece of cpu thermal pad about the GPU size and place it above the GPU chip-set with thermal paste, and because the extra high, you needs to adjust the heat sink. The next thing is cover-up the fan hole below the notebook using electric masking tape, this force the fan get the air from the opening on-top the CPU heat sink at the bottom of notebook, so you have to keep some space between notebook and the table with something, idea coming from after done some research on ASUS notebook. OK! not finish yet! because the temperature is too high, you need a fast start-up operating system like windows 8. And windows8 really good on control the CPU usage, and also set the max cpu usage to 70% on the power option. So, i guess you maybe asking, damn! how to format the notebook? even shutdown at boot because overheating? what you needs is take out the harddisk, put into other notebook, then run windows8 installation when finish step one before reboot to settings up device really, take it out and put it back to the dell, start the dell and continue the installation. I guess, you also can finish the win8 installation on other notebook then replaced back to dell. Reason for this is let the windows8 to control the CPU unit. ALSO in BIOS, SpeedStep have to enable! So you maybe asking. What is my Dell CPU temperature? you can look at the picture. 10c higher then mine toshiba L300....

Final. after you done all the driver setup and software installation. Make a system recovery image. when bad thing happened, take the harddisk out and put into other notebook do recovery, only 15min

i also using fyd-738 cooling fan. can get it from ebay, search fyd-738.

Anybody who knows how to solve it please share it, I have a seen guy solving this issue but he won't agree to share it. I am sure this is problem related to PROCHOT signal, may be PURE_HW_SHUTDOWN, EC_SHUTDOWN or ECRST.
