Ah I get it, thanks for your help. I am testing with a multimeter. So which legs do I have to touch together to find out if its shorted?

A good MOSFET should test open circuit between Drain and Source. Also open between Gate and Source. I found faulty MOSFET lately that had low resistance reading between Gate and Drain, about 2K ohms.
Some high resistance readings can be expected while its still soldered to the PCB.
I dont like removing parts until I am fairly certain that they are faulty.

There is more detail to testing MOSFETs.

pin 1 one test probe, and the other probe to pin 6. measure resistance, then reverse. if you can read low resistance in both ways, it is shorted

Its 0 from 1-6. The other chip next to it shows like .3 Chips look to be identical. So does this mean its short?

Who can sell me 5 of them?

            hi,

I have here the same issue toshiba satellite c655-s5128. works on battery but not charging, does not work using AC adapter. Q6002 tested good.

            max17435E
            acin 19v
            acok 5.27v
            acin 1.68v

            battery connector
            pin 6-7 3.4v
            pin 5 .12v
            pin 4 0v
            pin 3 fluctuates
pin 1-2 11v (unit off with battery)
            q6002 drain 19.24v
q6002 source 10.96 (unit off with battery)
            gate 0v

            is max7345E faulty?

I cant find data on the max7345E . Did you check Gate to Source leakage of Q6002?

                Shaker,
If the reading is the same both ways, it is shorted. What is 0? Try to short your probes and take note of the reading, the. Test again mosfet. If the same reading is the same with shorted probe or near it, it is shorted.

Re: Toshiba Satellite C655 won't run off AC. Need schem.

Already replaced Q6002 from a dead toshiba board. The same voltage reading. Q6002, when battery is on with adapter, drain 19volts, source is 10.9volts while gate is 0 volts. The fet is 4410N which is a n-channel fet. Also kinda confused with the replacement irf8113 which is a p channel. I didnt know that it can be inter changeable. (Correct me if im wrong)

leakage test has been performed. at 2k no deflection.

Since ACIN is greater than 1.485V, AC input is detected, therefore ACOK' should be 0V. Also pin 24 should be above 2.4V.

                      Try to replace the chip.

The IRF8113 is N-channel also. Is there a link to the schematic of the C655 somewhere?

According to the max17435e data, ACOK state should only be affected by the voltage range on ACIN. ACOK should be low while ACIN is between 1.48v and 2v.
                            The IC might be faulty.
If you have a DSO, it might be useful to see if Q6002 is being turned on briefly when adapter power is first applied. This IC will permanently turn off the adapter MOSFET, Q6002?, if it senses an overload.

I couldnt find the C650 schematic, might be moved.

                                whaldz,

                                pin 24 got 0v.
ive got 3 volts after R6003

does that mean max chip is faulty?

Re: Toshiba Satellite C655 won't run off AC. Need schem.

PDSL pin 14 is 0V because ACOK' is 5.27V. PDSL provides the voltage needed to turn on Q6002.

But ACIN is 1.68V, so the ACOK' must be low. Therefore, PDSL must be HIGH - which will turn on PDSL.

                                        Try to replace the chip.
