    DV6000 (DV6809) Power problem.

I am attempting a repair on an HP DV6000 laptop with a power issue. The laptop is not getting power from the a/c. It will power on and run fine on battery until it runs out but still does not charge the battery.

The dc jack is not the problem, I have confirmed that there is power getting to the motherboard.

I have checked the mosfets in the power in area and I think they are ok.
There is an AO4430 next to the a/c in that measures in diode mode .484 from source to drain. The mosfet is open when measured from drain to source.

There is also a FDS6679 nearby that measures from drain to source as .145 and open when measured from source to drain.
I thought that value might be low so I pulled the mosfet and tested it by itself and it measures .465.

I next thought to check the max8724 chip.
There does not seem to be any power supplied to the dc in when the power is plugged in. There is power present to some of the other pins when the battery is connected.

I found a schematic for a similar board that has helped me understand where the power should be going: hp_dv6700_intel_quanta_at3.pdf

I'm not really sure where to look next. It looks like there is a power interruption somewhere but I can not find it. So I ask for someone who may know these boards better than I do, what should I do next?

I need to make a correction to the above. There is actually .6v supplied to the max 8724 DC IN pin. I assume there should be more.

If you can get your head round the language these 2 docs will help. Learn how it works on a DV2000 schematic and cross reference to your AT3 and you should develop a really good understanding of the whole power theory.
      Good luck

Ok, maybe someone can help me follow this schematic. I can follow the power for a little and then I get lost.
I have attached the page from the schematic detailing the power input and battery charging.
I can see that the power comes in at the top and and stops at VA and VAD on the schematic.
There is 0v at the max8724 ACIN, which means that it will not detect that the power cable is plugged in. I have traced that back and tested the resistors PR11, and PR12. Neither are open or shorted. Looks like those resistors should be getting power from VAD-1, but I don't know where this comes from. I don't see how to follow VAD to VAD-1.

Look on the far right of the drawing in the blue oval

There is no VA or VAD within the blue oval. From the direction of the diodes it looks like that part of the circuit is getting power from VAD-1. It still doesn't show me how to trace the power from VAD to VAD-1.

Asus Z97-a power cycle, no boot no cpu voltage
              by meraklinetx
Hello, I have an asus Z97-A motherboard and it doesn't start which was working properly before, the problem isn't related by ram, ram slots or psu (I changed all and nothing work), the exact problem is when you switch it on , it starts and after 1 seconds (no boot or display picture) it's off and then on cycle continuously until you power it off from psu also it's responding to the power switch for turning it off if you keep pressing it 3 or 4 seconds (power button pin has 3.3v) , also when you start it with eatx 12v socket connected this is happening (power cycle also all voltages are resetting...

2070 Super with crazy power consumption numbers
              by Joe24
Have a Gigabyte 2070 Super with some bonkers power draw readings. Card runs fine, other than some GPU throttling because of the power numbers. But GPU power always reads too high, more than the power reading for the entire card. And VRAM power always reads way too low, along with PCIe and 6-pin power readings. The 8-pin reading seems plausible.

Typical readout while running 720p Furmark, 8x AA:

              GPU clock: 1590 MHz
              Mem clock: 1750 MHz
              GPU temp: 58.8 °C
              Hot spot: 71.8 °C
              Fan speed: 33% / 1000 rpm
              Mem used: 454 MB
              GPU load: 97%

              Hi all

There's two other threads about this monitor with seemingly the same problem. The problem was resolved in one case by replacing the entire PSU board and in the second one by replacing an unknown IC.

              https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=40512

The first one has pictures of the pcbs and I noticed that there's one IC and assorted caps not populated on mine (but the PCB itself looks identical) so I thought that'd warrant a new thread.

It's my dad's old monitor. He...

Definitive technology SC 2000 subwoofer amp's power supply clicking and popping
              by JimBanville
The sub developed a constant popping every couple seconds from woofer and power LED flickering with nothing but wall AC connected. Connecting an audio cable didn't change anything. It doesn't play but a second or two of audio in between the pops.
Opened it up and discovered the power supply is making a faint clicking or ticking sound.
I measured the amp's output to the woofer and it pulses up to 50mv DC to be driver. The pulses coincide with the power supply ticking/clicking.
I measured the power supply output going to the amp board and it too has this pulsing. Voltage cycles...

Asrock H87-Pro4 Rev. G/A 1.04: Power cycling on reset only
              by MyBrainIsAStrainer
              Hi!

I have a weird one for you. I have a H87-Pro4 from Asrock that power cycles. But only when you do a restart after it was already running!

              Symptoms in detail:
              1. I switch off the ATX PSU for ~15-20 seconds, then switch it back on again.
              2. I press power button. The board boots without issues.
              3. I can shut down the board any way I want (via OS* menu, or pushing the power button - either in the OS or the boot manager).
              4. Push power button again, board boots fine.
              5. This shutdown/powerup can be repeated multiple times without problems.
              6. BUT: If I do a restart instead
