• Re: Ideapad u310 no video.

Programmed the chip with the supplied bios. Booted normally 3 times in a row. I think its fixed. Thanks.

• Ideapad u310 no video.

The unit powers on but nothing shows up on the screen. Same with external monitor. Every once in a while, maybe after turning it on and off 30 times or so, it starts up normally.
I was going to try to flash the bios chip but the bios file I downloaded from the Lenovo website is larger than the capacity of the bios chip. The chip is an Winbond 8mb 25Q64. The bios file I extracted from the download is about 8.5mb. How do I get a usable bios file that fits on the chip?

• Choosing replacement capacitors

I am replacing the capacitors on my monitors power supply and I am having trouble identifying the series which some of them belong to.
There are several ltec capacitors from the th and tk series. What equivalent series from other manufacturers would be appropriate?
Also does it even matter much what series I use as replacements? As long as I get a good brand like panasonic?

• Re: vx2835wm, No power light, backlight flashes.

Thank you, I will be getting some capacitors for replacement. When considering esr rating, how low is "low"? Most of the kits I have seen seem to be incomplete and don't show what brand capacitors are included.
Should I be selecting capacitors from a specific series?
Are Jameco branded capacitors good? They don't really indicate who the actual manufacturer is.

• vx2835wm, No power light, backlight flashes.

I have a vx2835wm 28" viewsonic monitor that has been having some problems lately and is now no longer turning on. For several months it has had a problem turning on. I would press the power button and nothing would happen. The power light would not turn on. I would unplug the monitor and plug it back in and then it would turn on and operate without any issues. When this started happening I opened up the monitor and found a few bad caps on the motherboard, not the power supply. I replaced them but that made no difference. I let the problem go as I could still use the monitor.

• Re: VA2226W cycling colors on screen

Thanks, I got it working. Turns out that the osd was locked as well as the power button. I held up + #1 to unlock the power button and down + #2 to unlock the osd. I was then able to reset everything from the osd and it is working fine. I guess I never had to take it apart in the first place.

• VA2226W cycling colors on screen

When plugged in this monitor will immediately start cycling through solid colors on the screen. Alternating every couple of seconds between blue, green, red, white, and grey. I have read that there is a color test mode that can be exited by pressing a certain button combination when powering on but there seems to be no way of escaping this in this monitor.
I'm not sure that the color test is the problem since the unit starts cycling immediately after plugging in the power cable without pressing the power button. Also I can not turn the unit off with the power button. The osd is also not...

• Re: DV6000 (DV6809) Power problem.

There is no VA or VAD within the blue oval. From the direction of the diodes it looks like that part of the circuit is getting power from VAD-1. It still doesn't show me how to trace the power from VAD to VAD-1.

• Re: DV6000 (DV6809) Power problem.

Ok, maybe someone can help me follow this schematic. I can follow the power for a little and then I get lost.
I have attached the page from the schematic detailing the power input and battery charging.
I can see that the power comes in at the top and and stops at VA and VAD on the schematic.
There is 0v at the max8724 ACIN, which means that it will not detect that the power cable is plugged in. I have traced that back and tested the resistors PR11, and PR12. Neither are open or shorted. Looks like those resistors should be...

I need to make a correction to the above. There is actually .6v supplied to the max 8724 DC IN pin. I assume there should be more.

• Re: Most of these Laptop Screens get Worn in the same place...

I wonder if some polishing compound rubbed in could take it off? I will have to try it next time I have one of these.

• DV6000 (DV6809) Power problem.

I am attempting a repair on an HP DV6000 laptop with a power issue. The laptop is not getting power from the a/c. It will power on and run fine on battery until it runs out but still does not charge the battery.

The dc jack is not the problem, I have confirmed that there is power getting to the motherboard.

I have checked the mosfets in the power in area and I think they are ok.
There is an AO4430 next to the a/c in that measures in diode mode .484 from source to drain. The mosfet is open when...
