    Hp 530

    Hi

I have this HP 530 with no power. I don't have power on battery pins. No leds, nothing.
I have tested those PQ40 and PQ41 with Diode test, putting the Red Probe on the arrow and the Black probe on the other connections. It always beeps, so it's shorted right?
I have inverted the probes, and still does the same.
Can these components be the culprit of the problem? What to check next?
    Thanks

    PS: F1 is OK.

You have to remove CPU before doing any continuity tests.
    Pls check again.

With motherboards beeping is good to draw your attention but it isn't enough information to determine a short. My meters beep on the diode scale anywhere less than about 0.075 voltage drop. Perfectly good Northbridges can measure 0.065-0.015 voltage drop. A CPU can measure as low as 0.008 voltage drop. Shorts measure about 0.000-0.003 voltage drop depending on the quality of the meter leads and meter zero. On motherboards the numbers matter.

To make matters worse some meters show 0.000 when beeping even the voltage drop is not zero.

        Hi severach:
        Thanks for the details.
Do you have experience with short finders like LeakSeeker or Testec LLC?
Would be great to not lift/unsolder every suspicious component for testing.
Maybe a short beeper is even a helping tool to detect defective BGA bridges and ICs?

          Hi Guys

          Gonna try without the CPU.
          Thanks
