Re: Hp 530
Hi severach:
Thanks for the details.
Do you have experience with short finders like LeakSeeker or Testec LLC?
Would be great to not lift/unsolder every suspicious component for testing.
Maybe a short beeper is even a helping tool to detect defective BGA bridges and ICs?Last edited by tschanuka; 09-22-2011, 05:53 AM.

Re: Hp 530
You have to remove CPU before doing any continuity tests.
Pls check again.

Re: Dell Inspiron 1545 Dim LED
@momaka:
Hi, I agree with you.
But display backlight is controlled/enabled by the North/GPU in this model.
That part or connection of the chip can also fail as the other functions like graphic processing.
Yes, it is not much likely if there are no other signs of GPU or Northbridge failures. It could just not be excluded, that´s why I mentioned it.
I think the hint from jsog is a good point to start.
LED Backlight issues seem to be a common problem with the 1545.

Re: Dell Inspiron 1545 Dim LED
Hi.
Yes defective GPU and cable can cause such problems, but also other parts of the motherboard for power and backlight controls the display.
I uploaded LVDS part of the schematic for you to check:

Re: Acer aspire 4720z wireless issue
There is an option to automatically "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" in the properties of the wireless card. Maybe there is a problem with reactivating.
Check that by disabling this option.

Re: toshiba satellite A135 power problem
Unplug all components, cards and battery to see if something is interrupting the start.

Re: Toshiba Satellite A100-022 Power issue
For compatible IC compare the datasheets. But I think there is no compatible for this one, except bq24720.
If you have no other source you can get the chip on ebay.

@woodford
Well, a search for "toshiba cap" brings up 6 threads.
So hard to look for the wanted article? And the tip from marcellodj with the max-chip is not commented in any way (so obviously not tried?)...
how would anybody (can or wants to) guide you trough repair process?
Anyways, first start with the easy things before attempt to do chip level repair: Try another charger, take out all memory, cards, drives and battery and see if the LED still flashes in that way.

Re: fujitsu amilo pi1505
Hi.
Could be a controller failure yes.
But there are many other things that can cause the controller (in southbridge) or sata funtionality to fail. Needs professional diagnostic.
Did the friend report other problems like with USB, WLAN, LAN, Sound? That could indicate a southbridge problem (opposite no other problems reported does not exclude southbridge problems).
You should first update the BIOS! Also check the system with a linux live CD.Last edited by tschanuka; 08-26-2011, 09:11 AM.

Re: Hp G61 shuts down abruptly after 3-5 minutes of usage
The fan is spinning?
Try it with all components and battery removed.
Also check for dc-jack problems.
If overheating can definitely be excluded and nothing from above helps, then there are no more options than professional diagnosis and repair (service or by yourself). Could be the thermal sensor on the motherboard or something.Re: Hp G61 shuts down abruptly after 3-5 minutes of usage

Re: Acer 5515 Power Jack Replacement.
First clean the contacts from old flux with isopropanol or something and add lead solder to them. This will lower the temperature needed for melting and transfers heat better.
Good amount of flux (viscous) and highest temperature (around 450) on the iron. Need also a good tip for good heat transfer. Hot air station would be handy too.
Remove broken pins/solder with a fine tweezer and desoldering wick or sucker.

Re: Acer aspire 7520 no video
@primoz1:
I try to explain in theory how i did it in the past:
Missing pads will be replaced by a thing wire (0,1mm fly line).
You search for next possible contact (or make one by scratching the pcb) of the data line (by schematic, sight or multimeter in diode mode) and solder one side to this contact and the other end of the wire will replace the missing pad. That end can be bend in circle or something. Depends on the size of pads and thickness of the wire. The wire could also be fixed with some epoxid or kapton tape....

Re: Amilo xi 2428 graphics card problem
Open back cover and remove heatpipe. Finally you can lift up the card. Sure all screws have to be removed. You will know which screws when you see them.
Exchange should be possible. See this thread also:
https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=13396&highlight=2428
To avoid problems, uninstall nvidia drivers before exchange.Re: Amilo xi 2428 graphics card prob...to be removed.

Re: Hp Pabilion dv2000 multi display
Clear sign of defective GPU/north-chip (g6100/g6150) in this model.
Best option: Chip need to be changed for a new one (08+).
Rework/reball/reflow does not last for long here.

Re: Acer aspire 7520 no video
Missing Pads could be repaired, but it´s a not an easy job to do.
Some pads under the chip are not used (empty, no signal). You could post a detailed picture with cleaned pads so we could check that and tell you if or which pad(s) of the 5 are needed.

Re: Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo Mobile V5535
I have no schematic of this machine, but judging by symptoms it could be cold joints under southbridge. Rework/reflow would help.

primoz1:
If not a driver issue (onboard HD-Audio sometimes not recognized correctly trough Win and incompatible drivers are installed), then mcp67 could be the problem, yes.
The chip manages the function of the audio codec chip.
Btw: Reballing this chip will not last long in most cases. Better to change for new (hard to find original at the moment).Re: Acer aspire 7520 no video
