    Dell Laptop Battery 6T473

Anyone ever rebuilt a Dell battery pack?

I am trying to rebuild a 12 cell unit. I have checked each replacement cell and they test good. When testing it in the computer (Inspiron 1100) it gives the famous flashing yellow light. I have triple checked connections and it reads 14.5+V as it should. Does the small circuit board in the battery pack have some type of memory that needs to be reset or something?

Yes. It has eprom chip that writing every cycle in its own memory. Cycles are counting and cells information every cycle is updated in eprom memory. When cycles count reaches some limit then you can receive a flashing yelow light.
To refresh battery pack you have to reset (do programming) that eprom with new dump (reseted dump) also replacing baterry cells is highly recommended.

This battery is based on trio of BQ29310 , BQ8011 (first pic) and 24C01 (second picture on left). 24C01 is the eeprom that should be removed and reprogrammed in external programmer. Remember about proper battery capacity saved in reseted dump...

Looks like this will be more of a job than I want to mess with. I guess I should look for someone that rebuilds these things and see what they would charge me to rebuild mine.

I think the cheapest way is to buy new one...
